Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

I cant believe the amount of posts there are that the F430 or Corvette or Gallardo is 10ths of a second faster. I love my TT. Am not disappointed and would not by any of these other cars. The F430 and Gallardo are too flashy, and the Corvette is to Brash. I Love my new car. I love the feel of the steering, Brakes and Scary fast acceleration. Let me know if you feel the same way

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

I think this is the point that all the bickering seems to miss Rich.

With the plethora of veritable equal performing super-sports cars, one can go beyond sheer performance in picking their vehicle.

I mean, very few of us have the means of distinguishing between the slight minute differences in 0-200kmph acceleration ("dang it, that was a 12.6, I was shooting for a 12.4...").
What we do have is a personal sense of aesthetics, functionality, safety/family accomodation and price bracketing.

Although performance is a huge factor in purchasing a performance car and it should never be neglected, their is so much more to a car (Porsche's stability, image, safety; Lamborghini's verve, audaciousness, presence; Ferrari's aura, it's mystique, its pedigree; Corvette's bang for the buck ).

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

I think there are alot of "Trolls" on this Forum who aren't really Porsche Guys. Most of them can't afford a new 997 TT, so they have to talk it down. Although I don't have my TT yet I am waiting on a Sept. allocation, I think Porsche builds the best all around car made, You get it all Performance,Luxury,Quality,Good Looks, ETC.The TT also is alot more Stealth than the Lambo's and Ferrari's.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

I couldn't agree more, guys. Love 'em all for what they are. I have been fortunate to have lots of performance cars and a bunch of track only machines. We can get a kick out of driving almost anything. Watching the guys compete in their Ford Pintos in the SCCA and the adrenaline they feel going wheel to wheel is what its about.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

Like he said. Couldn't agree more. I absolutely love this car and mine's not even broke in! 180 miles to goooooooo...

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

    i'm with you guys..

can't wait september for my white 997 TT!!!

Porsche 911 Turbo, the King is one!

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

Totally agree, Rich. I don't even read a post that mentions Z06, Gallardo or F430. Good cars in their niche, but not for me.

Ditto for posts that say Porsche has lost its edge, is on its way out, Turbo is no longer king, etc.

To me, negative is out, positive is in...

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

I just passed 2000 miles. Actually, I cheated a bit since I saw 2000 miles or 3000 kilometers. I calculated that 3000 km was about 1,875 miles so I started picking it up then. It is fantastic. Takes some getting used to after babying below 4000 rpms, but I am quickly getting the hang of it. It is deceptively fast because it doesn't make the sounds and is more stable than my 996tts. However, when I look at the speedo, its right up there. Glad I've got the PCCB option cause they really pull the speed off. They grab so quickly and have such stopping power that I am finding I need to adjust my braking technique. What fun!

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

well said. like you i love my new tt that was astep out of the box to get. i like to go places and see different things, experience new engaging drives, stay in motels along the way and eat diner food + all the 5 star fun that abounds. the tt is perfect for that senario. if i had or even wanted the f430 or g-car they wouldn't meet my needs for these types of activities. how many of these cars have you ever seen engaging in these types of activities my count is zero. they are certainly more than proficient in all the driving stuff but most of my sightings involve more posing and less driving...imho

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

Hear hear, Rich, I couldn't agree with you more even if I tried. Like some of the others here have mentioned, I don't even bother reading the threads with topics about anything other than the 997TT anymore. I chose the 997TT over all the other cars for a very good reason and I'm sticking with it. I've driven the 997TT on several occasions and will be getting mine in a little while. I have no regrets about choosing what is in my opinion, the finest sports car in the world.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

I think the Turbo is a complete success for what it is designed to do. I too have a hard time understanding why some are so keen to criticize the car. Some say it is not a 'must have' car. That is almost a joke to me. In fact this Turbo is the very first that is a 'must have' for me so I bought it.
I can appreciate people having different opinions , life would be dull if it wasn't. But that does not mean the Turbo is not one of the greatest cars one can buy.

I do feel the same way...this is one hell of a car lucky SOBs are we I have nothing against the next fellows car...but I couldn't be happier with mine.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

Dollar for dollar the 997TT is one of the best values in a supercar today. I was back and forth on getting a Gallardo for 5 months when I came across the 997TT. 24 hours later I handed over the deposit and I have not looked back for a second. I have 2100 miles so far and am enjoying every second. I went on a 3 hour road trip last week and I don't think the G, V, of F would have been as comfortable.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

The TT is the biggest bang for your buck compared to a Gallardo or F430. Plus you can take it anywhere and it blends in as just another 911. You also have more dealers to get servicing from and likely better crash safety.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

Oh, good i thought it was just me. I love this car. Was over at the dealer today picking up my license plates and even the sales guys that see a lot of Porsches watched me pull up. I only have 460 miles on it so I have to be careful but i must admit that I hit triple digits yesterday on the way home from work. Just Porsches for me. I am glad there is a strong group of us who share the same opinion.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

If had to pick only one car w/no spending cap, I'd pick 997TT Tip w/o doubt (esp after owning two 996TTS Tips/430s)...and looking fwd to my 997TT by end of Aug

If could only have any three cars w/no budget, I'd pick 997TT Tip, 599 and upcoming CL65/63....

Reality is most guys who actually own Enzo/CGT/599/430/997TT/65, etc often choose what car they'd like to drive on any given day based on mood that day/driving route/driving feel of car vs route/etc....not necessarily N-ring time/0-xxx/sticker price/wt.....

Each of these cars has strengths/weaknesses dpdg upon conds/mood.....and each becomes obsolescent every 6-12mos as new iterations/competing models offer latest techs/debugs....that's what keeps it interesting for car nuts who are eager for latest techs and want to move up learning curve w/each new car's driving nuances....

Aaaah, the "bang for buck" nonsense ......well-equipped 996TTS costs roughly $50K in one-yr deprec costs (as does 55/65), no matter the mileage.....whereas, 430/599 have essentially $0 deprec costs, no matter the mileage (in US).....as I calc it, F is screamingly much cheaper to own than any P/MB (and it's not particularly difficult to get an existing VIP F buyer to intro a legitimate, new cust to a major dealer to gain entry to the silly US MSRP game)...

That said, IMO, F's dubious safety engineering/primitive safety systems makes every penny of a new, latest-tech P's (or MB's) hefty deprec costs a non-negotiable fixed daily transportation cost for those who highly value their health.....

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

How could anybody not be happy owning a TT
    Oct. build and counting

Put 30k miles on a F430 (if you can get in line)after
three years and see what your depreciation dollars are in real money.

Of course if you are just looting your company at the expense of share holders you wouldnt care what the actual lease numbers are because one might be paying for it with
    stolen money anyway.

Too many self effected pompous and self proclaimed geniuses in the valley should really be driven to their next SEC hearing in police cars anyway. And they are!

Amazing how many silicon valley execs have had to hire criminal defense attorneys after stating false sales numbers and backdating options in comp plans to suit the market value of their shares.

Please no more soap jobs about Silicon Valley VIPs. Many of them belong in Club Fed or Folsom. They make great poster talent for those who think the rich are best when eaten.

    As for Porsche owners....

Spend any length of time in ANY Porsche at 200 kph and it feels likes its crawling. If you haven't felt that then sell your car - now! You are just wasting your money.

Porsches really dont become alive until continiuos use of the far right side of the speedometer. If you havent felt that and enjoyed that you are hopelessly behind the knowledge and pleasure curve in Porsche ownership. You are missing 90% of the Porsche experience and might as well own a Kia Sophia.

Any one who buys one and has the financial ability to experience that and chooses not to is a hopeless naive bogus parking lot poseur buyer. Sorry, but thats the truth. No number of detail jobs or adds on of aftermarket exhausts and wheels will change that.

The average standard 987 5spd model owner in Germany gets more real use and pleasure from his car than any US Biz exec or Sili Valley scammer does with his 997 Turbo - simply because he gets to use it for what it was designed, engineered and intended for - at will rather - than waiting for a track day that he is scared of or using it to bluff co workers and neighbors with.

    Thats how I see it.

This was probably your best post ever, Jim ! Personally, I think most of these guys would be happier having a Boxster in Germany than a 997TT in the US.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

I guess it time to abandone this thread. The put down crowd has arrived.

Jim, instead of spending so much time on creative flames on a Sunday morning, why not get your great car out on some twisties? Its a better way to vent for a true car guy.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

I think Autoweek summed it up nicely: Viper? Too vulgar, Ferrari? Too prissy, Corvette? Too Blue Collar, Lamborghini? Too, well, irrelevant. Porsche has carved out a nice niche for an everyday Super Car. Not to mention it's a 2+2 which allows me to take my 3 and 4 year old boys for a ride. I can't imagine having a two seater that they aren't able to ride in. Whenever we are in my garage, all they want to do is get in daddy's race car.

I've owned a Z06, a 996TT and 997TT. I'd love to own any of the cars mentioned, but the 997TT fits my lifestyle and tastes, even if it is 1/10th of second slower.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say

All of us who own these fine sport cars love them. If someone who owns a Corvette or F430 or whatever say theirs is the best fine. Heck I own a 997 Cab (Non S, Non TT) and I love it. Well love is kinda strong but you get the point.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

"Me thinks you all protest too much."

Enjoy your TT. It is an excellent car but not for everyone. Not is the Gallardo or the Ferrari.

So long as you find the car providing you with most of what your driving needs are, then the car is right for you.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

Yup, tired of all the posts about the "other" cars. I prefer the biased 997TT forum, thank you very much...

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

I prefer the 997TT biased forum also. IMHO mastiffdog you should get the clear side markers on that badboy. Suncoast motorsports sells them for 28 bucks.

Re: Tired of the Corvette, Gallardo and F430 posts that say they

enjoy your new ride! sounds like you already are! my heart belongs to the F430 though.
