    Re: Formula One Spanish GP

They have to lower costs like CART in EEUU, they have almost F1 capable cars with 10% the budget of F1 cars. Similar cars can offer the same show than F1 cars if driven by F1 drivers, in GP tracks, and made by our favorite makers, ets. The cheapoer the running costs would mena more FAIR competition, i.e. REAL competition, cause as its stands right now, the team with the largets budgets win, doens't matter the driver, and there are only 3 cars than can win in the whole grid. Thats sad, thats not competition. Lower costs would give a fair chance to ALL the teams and would also draw into the sport more makers which would increase the show also. But unfortunately we must realise Formula One is 99% business and 1% sport, and its not that easy.

Thats whats have to be done in the end if they want to survive 5-10 years from now, but those changes mean decistions and its hard to get everybody united in order to make the changes, the FIA can't force any rules because some markers will simply leave F1 and just a couple of the mayor makers leaving F1 would mean its death. There is already barely any variety of makers in F1 with championship posibilities, its turning into NASCAR
So that the reason of the stupid changes they made this year, no effect on costs whatsoever and cars are even faster than last year thanks to all the money they had to spend in development.

All I want is for the drivers to play a bigger roll in the result of the races. Not being the car the 99% of the factor right now, and the money the factor behind the car. Thats not competition.

Look at MotoGP, now thats a show!

i agree, somehow . i'd love to see F1 cars without traction control, with slicks etc -- but the testing limitation is hypocritical. BMW is against banning electronic gizmos for example (something ferrari would approve), different teams prefer different sanctions. the testing limitiation is hurting ferrari (bc of only major bridgestone team, two tracks at the doorstep) and that's why the other nine teams want it. not because they are some noble knights.

it would also reduce costs if you ............ lay off all renault hostesses (hand picked by flavio )

I don't think laying off is what Flavio had in mind when he hand-picked the Renault hostesses!

    Re: Formula One Spanish GP

Not too great of a fight today

But bravo for Kimi, the McLaren was simply unbeatable today, and it didn't brakedown Good deserved victory for Kimi.

Alonso was very lucky to finish second. He developed a blister in the left rear tire at the beggining (you could see it on the close up shot in TV) and made him drop his pace severily until the first pit stop were they dropped his rear pressures, then his pace went back to normal and started to increasd the space between the drivers behind that he had lost. De La Rosa (McLaren team) said during the race (he was a comentator during the race for spanish TV) that the same thing happened to him on Friday practice so the McLaren team really babied the tires and kept an eye on that, and looks like it worked for Kimi. De La Rosa is great, he tells during the race a lot of F1 insider info that he cannot say before the race.

Too bad for Schumi, would of liked to seen a fight, but he wouldn't of catched Alonso anyway. All the luck he had last year is turned around on him this year. Looks like the Bridgestones don't warm up quick enough in order to make a good one lap qualifying it seems but they realy come into play as the race gets under way, like in Imola. But this time they started to blister like Alonso's but even worse, thats why Alonso was very lucky. Its only been 5 races and there are 14 more races to go so everything may change still.

Unbelievable turn out for the race, never in F1 history was there such a crowd and ambience.
    Next is Monaco.

Carlos - Did you attend the race? I was supposed to be at the last race in Imola, but my vacation went to Mexico instead. I've still never been to an F1 race, but will someday

    Re: Formula One Spanish GP

    No I wasn't and I've never been to a F1 race either
However I have been at this GP track before but for MotoGP back when they were 500cc 2-stroke bikes and Mick Doohan was racing.
Maybe you can make it to the EEUU race in 19 June at Indianapolis

    Re: Formula One Spanish GP

Very happy for Kimi.. He deserves it. Also I'm happy for Alonso. 2nd place isn't bad at all. Congratulations to all Spanish people on a spectacular show today. I don't know why, but I have a soft spot for Spain, its people, and above all their king Juan Carlos.

    Re: Formula One Spanish GP

    Thanks Ha
He is a big fan of sportcars. He's got a nice collection which includes a 959. He also likes to go to Formula One races (besides the spanish GP) if he can, last one I remember him attending to was the Bahrain GP.

I was there last year in Bahrain. Infact I was a few feet away from him before the start of the race when we were all walking by the grid. I saw him grab Alonso and hugged him so hard he actually lifted him above the ground. It was such a pretty sight it gave me goose bumps. I wish all world leaders are as humble as His Majesty.
