    replacing only 1 tire

    Will replacing my rear driver side 19" Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (due to a nail) produce any noticable handling changes in the car? The other tires only have 600 miles on them.

    Naaah, 600 miles is nothing.

    I replaced my right front 19" Michelin Pilot Sport with only 1600 miles on them. Mine was a victim of a pot hole. I have not seen any handling changes other than my being more diligent in avoiding pot holes.

    I have done this twice, once at 1600 miles and again at 5500 miles. Both times they were rear tires. No noticeable difference in handling.
    Only thing to make sure of is that each tire's pressure matches the one opposite. Front and Rear are expected to be different but Right and Left should be identical.
    I had a brief period where they did not match and the effect on handling was significant even though the variance was minor.

    just make sure they do a wheel alignment (properly) as well.

    Should I really get an alignment? The car has only 600 miles on it and seems to be driving pretty straight.

    At the very least a high speed balancing of the wheel should do, assuming you did not hit anything solid as bobr may have with the pothole. In my case it was nails both times .
