    HELP: Valentine 1: How to Turn Off X Band Permanently

    Hello,

    I have a V1 and seem to get a lot of false alarms (I think) with X band driving around the Los Angeles metro area. Someone mentioned that this could be turned off permanently. I am new at this and would like to ask a couple of questions please.

    Do you recommend doing this?
    How could it be done?

    True that most police radar guns are Ka-band, but aren't there any X-band radars?

    I turned my K and X bands off a couple of years ago. The only threats in my neck of the woods come from Ka and laser. On the highway the laser warning isn't much help (by the time the warning goes off, it's too late) but on city streets it can give you enough warning to turn onto a different street.

    For me the KA warning has helped a lot in hilly areas. If the detector goes mad for a second, then stops for a few seconds, then I often notice it really goes mad in another few seconds and then you can see the bogey in the distance. That early bounce is what can save you!

    No. In the past year, I was hit with instant-on X in a time when most believe X is not used anymore.

    Instead of disabling X, you might consider activating the Advanced Logic mode and/or using the volume control knob.
