What about a Porsche engine makes the break-in period different from regular passenger cars? "Regular" cars typically require that a driver maintain revs under 3-4K for the first 4,000 or so miles. Yet Porsche suggests just 2K. Are Porsche's engine manufacturing tolerances tighter? May Porsche put on some engine break-in miles at the factory *before* the engine is installed??

Also, what allows a Porsche to undergo maintenence at 1yr or 12K mi, when most passenger cars require maintenence every 4-5K?
