    3 Week Report

OK. There will be nothing here that should surprise anyone.

3 weeks and 300 miles after purchasing my CS here is my experience and thoughts (give me a break I was out of town).

    Good ordering selections:
    Wood steering wheel
    Tow Package
    Rear Window Shades
    Heated Seats
    CD Changer
    PCM

Things I wish I had ordered:
Variable Power Steering (biggest $200 mistake I ever made)
20 inch wheels (for $1500 it's like buying a set of tires)
    Air-suspension (not a big regret)

Went to the shop for an airbag fault at 240 miles. Took 2 days to repair. Our maintenance people here suck (more on that in another post).

Overall. There are only 2 things that will take some getting used to: 1. Porsche's drive by wire and 2. the stiffness of the ride. I am not quite convinced that Porsche has this whole drive by wire thing down. When I punch the accelerator I expect a neck snap in a fast car or a bunch of engine noise in a slow car. In the CS all I get is a delay. I find myself being very careful when changing lanes because my steering is ahead of the engine. I am in the other lane by the time the engine gives me what I am looking for. I know ....turn the PSM off ...and yes it does help, but this is a 60K ride.

I hear that with Porsches, unlike most other cars, break-in is a really big deal. So I will be patient as things loosen up and I start getting the crispness and accuracy that I expect. Right now the paddles are more like request flobs. I request to change gears and then the engine thinks about it for a little while and grants my request.

Once I learned how to use the radio, it was awesome. Navigation gets confused if I monkey with it while moving, but impressive for a CD based system. Low Fuel warning comes on early. Cup Holders are a little tight. The ambient lighting around footwells and door handles is really cool. Turning the steering wheel light on and off with the little button behind the wheel is cool.

Love the cornering. Once above 3500 rpm love the acceleration.

In summary, I really like the CS. Given the chance to do it over I would buy it all over again.

I know I am supposed to post pics, but I have some modes coming next week. I promise to post afterwards.

It seems Porsche is working on this (see the thread above on the Transmission Control Module Replacement). Maybe we will see a solution soon.

    Thanks for the post.
