Re: Canceled Panamera Turbo order
ALDO:
Christian,
why do you compare the Panamera price with the Cayenne price?
1. when the development of the Panamera started, it was supposed to be an "alternative" for the Cayenne, for those who need a bigger Porsche but don't like SUVs. Pricing was also suggested to be as attractive as possible, at a similar level as the Cayenne.
2. the pricing of the Panamera was a marketing department decision, they wanted to "lift" the Panamera "above" the Cayenne
3. I agree, the Panamera is officially priced at a similar level as the BMW 7 series and Mercedes S-class. There is however a real life problem here: while you get huge rebates on the BMW and Mercedes, you usually get only 3-6% on the Panamera...if you're lucky. Some dealers may give 1-3% more (if they want to commit suicide or if the customer is a good customer), others give 5% or less. Ever tried to buy a 7 series BMW or S-class Mercedes ? Well...lets start with a 20... , even more if the car is registered to the dealer first. Lease offers are also way better on the 7 series and S-class.
Finally, there is another problem with the Panamera as a business car in Germany: the german tax office (Finanzamt). My financial advisor, who has started his career at the german tax office, still has friends there. It seems that a BMW 7 series or Mercedes S-class is generally accepted as a business car. The Panamera however starts to raise eye-brows at the tax office. Just a stupid example, I agree but there are just too many factors around this car which make it a red flag for business men over here. Again: I'm talking about Germany only, in the US or in Asia things may look different.
P.S.: I get the feeling you got bored with your 997 Turbo, Adnan. Whats next ? Panamera S? Turbo ?
