    Trying To Compile Engine Failures Information

    In Soloporsche.com spanish forum we are trying to compile information as much as possible. A spaniard car magazine is going to publish a press file so if you'd like to help us, and share any data about your engine failure you can PM me. We'll be very pleased to receive your info with car, model year, mileage, etc Thanks in advance Joaquin.

    Stupid question: why would you do that? It is no secret that the M96 isn't as bulletproof as the "old" Mezger engine but it doesn't stand out as a bad engine or an engine with lots of engine failures ?

    Can't hide the feeling that you just want to advertise your new forum.

    AFAIK soloporsche isn't new - it's a Spanish language Porsche forum that's been around for some years 

    Carlos from Spain is a member/moderator of that forum ...  

    But I do agree with RC - unless you have empirical data on many engines, what would such a survey indicate? IMO just some random failures that may not be statistically significant

    That's why they are trying to increase their sample size, in order to arrive at statistically significant results.

    What I would regard as statistically significant is data on many hundreds of failed engines from around the world not just a few dozen.

    Why? Because of the many, many thousands of M96 and M97 engines made for the 997.1 models.

    A few internet forums isn't enough. Porsche will have data on all failures reported to OPCs around the world - that kind of data is much more informative.
