This is what we call "Playstation" driving in our driving circles. It certainly looks cool and no (real) hard is done during a professional race but during amateur events, this is a no go. Had one guy driving like this a couple of years ago, he was banned for life from that driving group (I am no longer a part of because I found a new one, with more "responsible" drivers...probably because their cars are substantially more worth than the ones from the previous group Smiley Smiley).

I'd say yes...half very rich people, half driving pros (the kind who won professional races), me Smiley (I actually don't fit in anywhere but they accept me for whatever reason). We even have our "secret" discussion forum. Smiley Smiley Very nice cars, I actually think I have the least spectacular there (R8). Smiley

Re: As close to ten tenths as you can get

Well, I think you can not compare this race to an amateur driving event... this was a ballsy move that you can only make if you know that the other driver is a pro too... otherwise you're just risking your car. And tbh, you don't know whether this was the intended move, or the intended move gone wrong but somehow turned out spectacularly well...

Actually, you can do this stuff only during a pro race but it wasn't "by the rules" and the driver certainly was sanctioned for it in a way or another. During amateur driving events however, you sometimes see even worse stuff because drivers often drive with a knife between their teeth, something absolutely not acceptable because nobody wants to go home with a damaged car, no matter how small the damage.

You are right, it may not have been intended but it certainly was a bold move. Smiley I do that always when I play Playstation (sound familiar?), I never drive as if I would be on a track, I drive using the game's physics and oddities (for example you don't really seriously damage the car when you "lean" on to other cars in curves Smiley)

Smiley Come on RC , be real .   Even the ones who do stupid things during amateur events don't go to the extent that guy did .  ( speed of both cars, sliding, being on two wheels etc... )

I've seen worse...up to a point where the "victim" went over to the driver and started hitting him after they returned to the pit. Some idiots just don't get it, amateur track driving for fun is not a place for big egos (oh well, there are lots of big egos there but people usually have brains and don't want to end a perfect beautiful day with a damaged car).

You got lucky so far, be happy you haven't encountered these idiots who think they know better than the instructors.

This is probably the reason why well organized events but reputable companies are so popular, the instructors spot big egos and/or idiots by a mile and act correspondently.

Fun story: We sometimes had a female instructor with us, beautiful woman. At some point, the typical big ego guy surfaced in a bigger group of drivers and he was also trying to flirt with her all the time (which she didn't appreciate at all because she is married). To keep him at bay, she told him that he is the best driver in the group and he should drive at the end of the pack with her in the last car, so the others get a chance to learn. Smiley We talked about this in the evening when some of us went to dinner with her, oh boy...she really "nailed" this guy.

It is real. It the Aussie V8 Supercar series.

Also, I figured out why the blue car was all over the place... it's a Volvo Smiley. Unfortunately they have left the series.

This has a lot of other angles of the pass as well as some quotes by the drivers. Just a phenomenal pass.

Excellent move! Blocking the road for the others while taking the turn sideways; brilliant!
