    why no japanese sports car?

    i was just curious what you guys think are the reasons for the big japanese mfg's bot to have sport's car models in the $80-$150k range?

    i know honda has the NSX (acura in the US) bu tit has been kinda quiet otherwise. toyota, mazda, nissan, they all lack a high-end sports car, or even super car.

    why is that?
    just curious...

    because a halo model won't neccesarily improve anything , especially at a japanese company.

    I hear Toyota are testing the new Supra, but that's about it. The Nissan 350Z is a joke, so is the RX-8, not nearly as good as their predecessors and Mitsubishi has gone astray with its Lancer EVO, instead of producing a new 3000GT (highly unlikely though, as the company is in serious financial turmoil).

    They have (or had?) that stupid 280 HP law and I also think that a lot of customers in Japan, especially due to high traffic and slow speeds, didn't see the sense to buy a high power high performance car anymore. They prefer "bling bling" stuff like wings, spoilers and electronic gimmics and the micro car sub culture also has (or had) a lot of success. Not to speak about those tuning kits for rice burners which are fun too (from a japanese view of perspective). Just a guess, maybe one of our japanese Users (we have several of them!) could shed some light into it.
    If not in English, maybe in Japanese. I'm pretty sure we find a way to translate it.
