indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

Exactly this is my problem with this collection...I would drive the hell out of every single car in this collection. Especially the Murcielago and the Veyron should be driven, not collected.

The garage itself is a work of art, and those cars OMG.

He's not allowed to drive them, he's just storing them for me temporarily.

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

WOW - amazing cars, beautifully displayed but are they driven like they should be ... ?

Actually acording to the article :

"60 or so of the rarest, most valuable cars in the world. The cool part is that they don't just sit there like museum pieces--Lauren reportedly drives all of them"

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

I doubt  he drives all of them , some have non american license plates, but if he drives some of them, then that's good enough for me.

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

Consider he has not one but TWO MacLaren F1, and those 2 are not in the museum, it is safe to assume that's his daily driver.

The Lambo is nice, but it's not quite half the car the F1 is, and even the Veyron is still as not as good as the F1, none of his cars measured up to the F1.

If I were Ralph, I'd drive the F1 too, best sports car ever bar none.

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

I remember reading in some magazine awhile back that he spent over $300,000 replacing the wooden fencing around his Colorado ranch so he could have the right color of ash grey which would set off nicely against  the background scenery of the mountains.

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

If I had his income I would have triple the size of his garage.

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

In fairness to Mr. Lauren here, many of these cars are at a concours level of restoration, which is a hugely painstaking process - even a slight little stone chip can disqualify you from Pebble, Amelia Island, etc. In addition, between the Bugatti Atlantic and his GTO, you're already pushing something on the order of $50-80 million USD in value, so I can understand a few of them being garage queens, they are simply too valuable to drive too often, and too special.

Its like having a wine cellar filled with great wines from great vintages - if you have a '45 Lafite with dinner every night, what do you then have on the special occasions?

That said, drive the freaking Veyron and Lambo for god's sake.

    100% my thought!

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

saw the discovery program about the collection . like others here i would have prefered more reality of them actually having been used as intended....the portion dealing with reconstruction of the alfa 8c made this magnificent car appear to be something made from scratch by patek phillipe.

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

    Guys,

part of Ralph Lauren´s collection will be displayed at the Musee des arts decoratifs in Paris this summer. Has been a long time since I´ve been there... Smiley

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

The space where the cars are displayed is fantastic. Very minimalist making the cars to stand out

My favourites the Ferrari P2/3 and the Jaguar XKSS

Not even one Porsche? What's wrong with Ralph. I expected to see at least one 550 in his collection.

There is a 550 - not shown on the video though.

    Also I believe he has a 997.1 GT3RS and a 959.

awesome Garage ... i wish i could have this kind of Garage ...........hahahahha in my dream only

    Re: Ralph Laurens garage

He does own a 550 Spyder just as well as several contemporary models. He obviously bought the first 911 at the end of the 70ies before he started collecting historical Ferraris. Some of these astonishing cars he obviously bought before their value rose substantially.
