    I am really surprised about bluelines' decision, since he drove the 1.gen already and I thought that the "GT3-Killah" was a substantial upgrade to the 981 GT4 ... wait and see ... 

    The GTS is a really great car too! The all year round every day sports car. While I never managed to take it to a track, it did its fair share of "spirited driving" Smiley Very fast, very capable and very safe. For a turbo engine, smooth linear power delivery and nice sound in PSE Sport. Ticks all the boxes.

    There were two things driving the decision:

    1. I realised more and more that I was missing that manual stick and extra pedal Smiley Call me old fashioned, but there is something special with shifting gears and feeling the connection to the car.
    2. I used the GTS as daily driver, but since I got the S6 it became the new daily driver. Hence I did not need the GTS daily driver capabilities and could look for something more of a "fun" car.

    So, I also looked at 997.1/.2 GT3 RS and air cooled 993 Carrera S/4S, but adding it all together the first generation GT4 was the most appealing to me. It is a modern car with "older" car mechanical feel, but without substantial maintenance costs. You can extend the factory warranty for years to come and this also gives a peace of mind.

    Yes, both 981. I don't like the 718. Personal preference only. I am sure it is a great car kiss

    yes, I am a bit tired because of the C. situation and just wanted to tease you ... I am actually looking into some 718 offers, though less serious and more out of fun ... though, I am soooo happy with my PDK-car ...

    Yes, more or less. Except for the particulate filter the 718 has a new more powerful engine, more aero, Apple CarPlay and cylinder bank deactivation (!).

    The 781 is faster than the 981 around the Ring, I assume thanks to improved chassis and aero. 0-100km/h seem identical (or 0.1s difference in favour of the 718 depending in who reports the figure). The weight for the 718 is up 80kg and it is now the heaviest of all Caymans Smiley The loud exhaust is also gone due to the filter Smiley Going the same way as all Porsche cars... faster, but heavier, quieter and more disconnected due to nannies.

    Yes, that could be a factor too. Like faster Ring times, not due to a better car, but to new asphalt Smiley A change of external factors or point of reference.

    I read in one article that the additional weight is from the new 4.0l engine, the rear diffusor and the particulate filter. Then again, one review noted that the additional weight could not be felt on the track. So the cars are likely very close, the 981 a bit slower and more raw, the 718 a bit faster and more refined.
