After about driving 1500 miles in my new 997, I couldn't take it any more. Called tire rack yesterday, and got shipped overnight a set of the Michelin PS2. The set cost me about 1000 dollars but was wirth every penny. The Michelins were put on today... What a difference........ The car handles wey better, less harsh ride, less tire noise, and is much better with traction in the rain.. All I can say is that the continentals are JUNK and don't belong on this car period.. I feel sorry for anyone who got stuck with these tires on their 997..

Is there something like a "best tire" for the 997? And if so, which is it?![]()

My 997S has just arrived at my dealer (At last!!!! -20mm makes it look really sporty) and I noticed that it is fitted with Pirelli P-Zeros. Does anyone know how these perform? are they as good as the Michelin PS2's

The difference between the tires isn't really THAT big, don't let yourself get fooled by our claims. The P-Zero (Rosso?) is a good tire for the 997 but Porsche and Michelin did a lot of development work to develop a tire especially for the 997/987. This is why I think that at this moment, the Pilot Sport is the sportiest one available but of course this can change sooner or later.

Why is Porsche sending cars out with different makes of tyres????. If they specifically developed the PS2's with Michelin surely that will be the optimum tyre for a 997. Is it the case that they have a supply problem with the Michelins and the P-Zeros are a substitute or is it just luck of the draw which make gets fitted????????
