H&R help needed... something seems wrong here

    Hi guys, help needed!

I've had H&R springs on my 997 (non-S) about 2 months ago. It was installed by somebody who came recommended to me from this board. Strangely, the front end is looking way too low. The rubber (plastic) guard underneath the car on the front end scrapes on just about everything. I mean everything.

I took the car to the P-dealer the other day for a different reason. The service manager, after taking the car for a spin, told me that there is something very very wrong with the suspension. He's driven many 911s with lowered suspension, but the way this one is set up, the front end is too low. Every time he wants to go into a corner, he feels that the nose wants to fall instead of the back end, and the back end feels like it wants to lose traction because of it. He suggested that I switch out the springs ASAP.

I'm sure many of you here have had sport springs installed, in particular H&R ones. I'm attaching pictures to show how low the front end is.

Is there something wrong w/ my setup? Anyone have any experience with this? Also, a service guy suggested I get P-factory "Euro Springs" which will lower the car only 5/8-3/4". Anyone have any experience with these?

Here's a close up of the front, which is noticably lower than the back.

Re: H&R help needed... something seems wrong here

    front

Re: H&R help needed... something seems wrong here

back wheel picture... more of an ideal ride height, not quite as low as the front.

Re: H&R help needed... something seems wrong here

That's low, but not broken suspension low. Of course you can't really tell anything without putting it ona lift and seeing what's really going on. I would hazard a guess and say it's not the springs themselves, but something wrong that's either broken or put on wrong when you changed it over.

I always use the finger test for just off hte cuff info. If you can fit three fingers between the top of the tire and the fender it's a stock 911, 2 fingers and it's a -20mm sports suspension, 1 finger and it's a GT3 and less than one and you're in race car territory.

    I use the same method,however this 997 isn't low as a 997 GT3

Re: H&R help needed... something seems wrong here

I have H&R springs on my S with PASM, I think it's gotten lower since I put them on? It's hard to tell from the pictures but I think the front is lower, the back, I can't really remember exactly... However, mine is weird, in that the guy that did my install, put on a different model # of springs, it says on the box 996 Turbo and on the H&R website, it's actually for all 996 cars and it says those drop it 1"... the ones for my car say 1.2"... so I'm going to have him get me the correct springs and put them on and see how it ends up...

And in case anyone is wondering, I have removed the tint off the headlights and foglights....

Re: H&R help needed... something seems wrong here

    hmmmm.... looks ok to me

Re: H&R help needed... something seems wrong here

Don't know about your suspension, but the girl looks OK...
