What a surprise. It's a 911 with the new Panamera inspired rear light cluster with PORSCHE inscription integrated. And front-end does have the new Panamera Matrix-headlights Smiley

What did you expect? The 911 is successful because it is the 911. Why would they want it to look different? Making it "flatter" would have required making it longer as well (which happens anyway a bit). It also gets a bit wider in the rear to accommodate the new hybrid tech (especially with the wide rear 911 Turbo).

It's the most successful sportscar in history, in a configuration on its own that no other company can make or copy, selling more units with each generation... Why would Porsche want to take a new direction?? Reminds me of Coca-Cola's new Coke 30 years ago...

Normally it's people who never liked the 911 who want it to take a new direction, but the several generations of growing customers and enthusiasts just want it to evolve as it's always has, why would Porsche care about the former group of people at all?

The legacy of the 911 is almost unique. The new rear looks great, as were the 991.1 and 991.2

Very good examples indeed. Whenever I drink Pepsi (sometimes, I don't have a choice at certain venues in the US), I think I have to vomit. Smiley If someone is into caffeine soft drinks, Coca Cola is it. Not a fan of the sugary variant but I love Coke Zero, especially when it is chilled. Won't even say how much I love my iPhone 7 Plus. Whenever I try something new, I like it for a couple of days and then...boom...nothing. Have the new Xaomi Mi Mix (6GB version) and it had a true "wow" effect on me the first couple of days but now? I will probably sell it again.

911? I love my R8 but whenever I drive my 991 GTS Cab, I get reminded of why I still love the 911 as well. Especially in cabriolet flavor. Smiley

to my eyes, the car scoops front and sides looks almost retro... thanks for posting.

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

New shape looks really good. Love the 4 exhaust pipes that are moved more towards the center.

Also interesting comments in that Autocar article. Lot's of talk about electric...

Porsche 911 product line director Erhard Mössle said Porsche "needs an answer" to Tesla and the Model S. "There are discussions," he said. "It’s clear that we have to do something. We have to meet the CO2 regulations in 2020. The technology available is not far away from meeting our goals for such a car in terms of range and charging speed.”

As well as the option of a hybrid model, Porsche is also considering an all-electric version of the 911 in the same vein as the Audi R8 e-tron. However, this model is not seen as a guaranteed production car. Mössle said Porsche would need to “look at what is the right time and whether there is the need for it. It’s expensive and you never know if you will get your money back.”

    Re: 992 Thread Closed

The 992 will look so much better then the 991 - A big step up . Much sportier and modern .  Only the back, with the spoiler raised looks too busy and not very 911ish .  Those 2020 CO2 regulations will dictate a lot of what goes on with the engines in the whole range . Noice reduction will also be in a new era . No more flaps .

Cool new spy video (more detailed). The car sounds better than then 991.2 or is it me?

Also, new spy video of the Cayenne

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLWms7C94HU

At 1:31 - 1:38, you can see clearly the panamera inspired front lights on the cayenne.
