    HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

I'm going absolutely nuts! The mother Euro %"# Euro "%%&# "DING-DING-DING-DING" warning telling me that I havent put on my seatbelt.
Like most of you I get it everytime I plug the key in the ignition, and now it is getting to me.
Even when I hurry and press "OK" on the computer, the darn thing keeps dinging!

I believe someone wrote a post on this once...but did anyone come up with a ding-killer?

    From a rubbercell,
    Dr. Phil

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

On the 986 you can press the onboard computer knob down and it will stop showing the red warning.

Did you tried this to see if the ding-dong also goes away on the 987?

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

    I know this.
Trouble is the ding-ding does NOT go away when I press "OK" on the computer. It keeps going DingDing 3-4 times after I press "OK".
    Grrrr
Can you switch of the warning sound completely?

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

Doc, I believe you have the US version and can say that I have NO DING-DING in my car, only the warning in the instrument panel which can easily be switched of. You might have to send a letter to PCNA where you politely ask them how to do it, but then they will ask you for an official letter that you in fact took the car out of the US and then you will need to supply a letter....

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

But hey Dr.!!!!....the ding ding ding its for your proper security!!!!

    But yes its annoying

To quote Homer Simpson: "Why, you little..!!!!"

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

I am surprised too. Why would a Danish car do this?
    Mine (986 02 S) is Swiss and stays quiet ! :-)

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

It was built for the US market, but only driven in Europe. Hence the dingding.

My German 987 does the *dingdingding* too. So... you can press okay and the dingding goes off? Didn't try it yet... but it will be the first thing to try tomorrow.

Anyone managed to get rid of the dingding completely?

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

oh just put your seatbelt on!!!

although, the 997s does that ding-ding, and it does get annoying, it only gives you like 5sec to put your belt on or all hell breaks loose!

Oh well life could be worse, am i right?

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

Am I missing something, what's wrong with putting on your seat belt?

That's exactly my point. But it seems that there is no solution to this except to buckle up.

Ok now that I understand, I can tell you how to fix it.

As an electrical and computer engineer I've managed to construct a device to fix this very problem; the device I've constructed is inserted into the seat belt receptacle until it clicks into place, and it disables the annoying ding. It didn't take me long to make, but I found that in initial trials of the device most users couldn't find a good place to keep it or would end up losing it. To prevent this I developed a belt that it attaches to, that I then mount inside the cabin, thus it stays attached to the belt which is in turn attached to the car. The belt doesn't get in the way of much, it will actually just drape across your torso when the device is in use. Pay it no attention, it doesn't affect 0-60 times or the handling characteristics of the car - it is merely a method of making sure the device isn't lost.

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggh!!!!!!

The friggin ding-ding is driving me nuts!
I have always and will always use my seatbelt when driving...so I dont need a politically correct ding-ding-gizmo to remind me.
The ding-ding does NOT stop by pushing "OK" on the computer when it informs you that "seatbelt isnt on". It stops 2-3 dings after I put on the belt, and I'm very close to checking into the Betty Ford clinic of ding-ding-itis....

Re: HELP ME KILL THE DING-DING!!!!!

It really does not bother me in the slightest. BUT on my car, the "ding ding" starts once the car goes over 6 mph and STOPS when it goes less. Forwards or backwards. And as I only don't put my belt on when I am manoeuvring out of or into my garage or reversing down my short cul-de-sac it hardly ever comes on anyway.
