Would you wait for '07 model?

I have a C4S order in with a dealer for June/July delivery and have the option to wait for the '07 model for August delivery...whatever the spec is. The dealer has no idea what the '07 spec will be or whether price increases are in the works.

Has anyone on the forum heard what the changes may be or price movements?

If your scheduled delivery was for June/July would you just wait for the '07 spec?

    Questions questions....

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

FWIW, I payed 2% additional for having to wait for an '06.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

I've ordered a MY2007 car which will be built in Sept 06.

Any changes (if any) in the specs and prices will be announced in May 2006.

I understand that TPM will become standard spec.

I'm getting a 6% discount anyway so it may be worth waiting. I guess i could make up for any price rises on the '07 residuals.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

You could get Meteor gray...that should be added to the color palet

Yes but I hope they don't stop the Seal Grey option as a standard colour as it would probably still be my 1st choice.

I would definitely wait if the C4S gets the new 4wd system from the 997 Turbo from 07. But I guess no one knows if that's gonna happen or not, yet.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

It is also possible that MY07 Tip cars will get better performance (0-60, flexibility, etc...) given the advances in the Turbo's Tip. Still can't understand how they did 0-60 in 3.4

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

or they might have the same spoilers of the 997 Turbo.. I would wait

are you serious? or was this is a kind of joke?

there won't be anything like a facelift, as said before, meteor grey replacing seal grey in the palette is very likely. maybe some minor tweaks here and there, but no performance increase nor optical differences.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

Is there any way of seeing what Meteor Grey looks like (i.e. a proper photo and not the very artificial looking colours in the Car Configurator)?

On the Carrera range, if Meteor Grey does become available in MY2007, do you think it might be a standard metallic colour or a special metallic colour (for which one would have to pay even more than the standard metallic colours)?

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

I'm leaning more towards waiting for the '07. How sure is everyone that Meteor is going to replace Seal?

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

You are only talking about a month or so. I would wait.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

It's amazing how many rumors there are floating around regarding performance and comestic changes to the 2007 997 model; everything from a 400 hp motor (on another board) to the aforementioned spoiler and AWD changes????? When has Porsche EVER made such drastic changes to a relatively new model, or an existing model, for that matter, uhm....never! It's not Porsche's style. That's a good thing. Where do these rumors come from; pure baseless speculation?

The 997TT TipS pre-boosts the VTG's, meaning the turbo's are spooling up while the now quicker torque converter is changing gears, so the car is near peak torque throughout hard acceleration. Of course, none of this is possible on a NA car.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

If you wait 1 month you will save a whole years worth of depreciation.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

My gut, and nothing else, tells me that the new C4S will get some kind of a fascia lift(?TT front bumper) as well as the 381hp 3.8 becoming standard.
I would wait for the '07 as long as they give you a deal on it as well. However, they might really give you a killer deal on a '06 with the '07's a month behind.

    Why would Porsche change anything?

The cars are selling well. Dealers are not complaining. Who are Porsche losing significant sales to? Unless Porsche sees Polk data that shows potential customers and current customers are going elsewhere in significant numbers they are not going to change anything. Why spend the money when you don't need to? That's dumb business and Porsche are not dumb when it comes to the business of making money.

I didn't say it will change, i just said maybe
i wish it doesn't happen. i'm predicting this because the 996 4S had turbo body.

I think that you have called it right. The color change is correct, but as to the other things--not so much.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

Dealer has pretty much confirmed (from the sources they have) that no significant changes to the styling or performance will be made to the C4S '07 model. It's just too new for P to change thiings on it.

Nevertheless I have decided to go for the '07 model. The dealer has been brilliant and is also offering me the same discount I negotiated for the 06 car!

So I'm a happy camper. Now the longer wait.....

My thanks to all on the forum who have shed some light on my dilema and helped me reach a decision.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

I went today to the dealer, because I don't know if I can wait for the 997TT. They had a nice 06 997S convertible and they would not go any more than 3 percent on the discount. Do you guys think thats a good enough discount?

Rhino, I think dealers are under pressure to get through all of their 06 inventory prior to the 07 build up. IMO you could dictate a reasonable discount to them and its likely they would accomodate. I would think you should get at least another percent or two.

Re: Would you wait for '07 model?

    Thanks bud
