    How big is the Panamera?

In the web site of Auto Zeitung - German car magazine there 4 spy picture of the Panamera prototypes with new wheels and a silver frame around the side windows. Much more impressive is the picture of the Panamera near a white GT3: it looks incredibly bigger! And it doesn't seem a photoshop!

Re: How big is the Panamera?

The Panamera will be BMW 5-series size, one reason why a few 5-series are driving around with Panamera technology.

The picture shows a weird angle, also there is a lot of camouflage on the Panamera mule since it has to cover the whole shape and it can't fall off the car at higher speeds.

The GT3 looks like a slotcar in comparison - unless the Panamera will be equipped with 30" wheels I'd say it's a PS
Also the GT3 seems to have these blue protecting styropore things - normally not used when driven on the street

Re: How big is the Panamera?

The GT3 seems to be a Cup (rearmirror and spoiler). Nevertheless the GT3 looks very little also for the missing right part of the car: at least half rear spoiler is missing... if you image the complete car they have quite the same width and also the rear window (front) have the same height.
But I do not think that the Panamera will have a 5-Serie measures... at least an S-Klass...

It isn't about what you think, I'm talking about FACTS.

Re: How big is the Panamera?

Up to you believe in me or not
But... what I think is quite a FACT in Schwabenland...
Maybe you can remember in 2001 some old ML used as Cayenne mules also when the final Cayenne was much bigger then an old ML.. or not?
    Let's see...

Re: How big is the Panamera?

    Upper/top midclass as BMW 5 (550i / M5), MB E class (E 500, E63), Audi A6 (4.2, S6/RS6) is definitely the target market and audience for the panamera.

This board has existed for five years. Don't want to sound rude, but Christian lives one hour away from Zuffenhausen and has contacts in the company. What credentials can you produce?

Nah, I reckon Porsche is now going for Rolls Royce and Bentley customers and the Panamera is just about 2.78 inches longer and 2 inches wider than a Phantom and since its so wide, its going to be a solar powered and a hybrid to save on fuel consumption. I was right about the 1988 Suzuki Swift so my credentials are 100%.

    Only kidding

Re: How big is the Panamera?

lets hope when its finally outed it wont still be a fright pig

It's taken with a telephoto lens, so the perspective is distorted, making it seem much bigger.

Re: How big is the Panamera?

Telephoto lens or not, the closer vehicle will always appear larger than the one further away. The opposite is true here meaning that donkey is huge, in fact in another shot the roofline was at shoulder level to the driver.

If you go back to the mid 80's when there was a porsche model above the 911 family, namely the 928 and extrapolate power to today based on the 997 the panamera should have 550 hp as standard.

The styling must be sleek and nothing like that picture above. I think it would be a big mistake to go after a mid level bmw as a target. A porsche has to be the best in a segment for Porsche to stay Porsche.

Re: How big is the Panamera?

    Sorry Gentlemen,
really I don't want to start a sort of fight about "who has the best contacts" in the forum... we will laugh a lot about this board in a couple of years
    Have a good day!

Re: How big is the Panamera?

RC should be right with his info. But at the end I think we will meet somewhere in the middle. This means the CLS size. Since CLS is a bit bigger than the E Class and 5 Series, and smaller than the S Class.
Something must be wrong with the picutre, since the GT3 looks as it is standing behind a Maibach, and those sizes we will only see for the 5th or 6th Porsche Modell. Or do anybody really believes that Porsche is not going to do a S Class in the future?! The only question is if they do it before the Porsche (BMW)1er or after.

I can guarantee you, that the Panamera will not be longer then an AUDI A6! That is fact. It will be little bit shorter.

Re: How big is the Panamera?

According to Porsche AG, Panamera is going after 7 Series, S Class and Audi A8 in terms of roominess (4 adults and their luggage).

In terms of "concept" Panamera should be close to the Maserati Quattroporte.

Bottom line, I guess the Panamera will be close to 7 Series and S Class so bigger than 5 Series and E Class for sure.

Re: How big is the Panamera?

Beleive me, not longer then an AUDI A6. Btw I don't know how much longer the A6 is then a MB E Class.

    6 centimetres.

Re: How big is the Panamera?

    OK fair enough...

    Length (in meters)
    Audi A6: 4.91m (4.93m Station Wagon)
    BMW 5: 4.84m (4.86m Station Wagon)
    MB E Class: 4.85m (4.88m Station Wagon)

    MB S Class: 5.07m
    BMW 7 Series: 5.03m
    Audi A8: 5.05m

Re: How big is the Panamera?

    sometimes 6 centimeters are long

ehem, I hope you're talking about 6 cm difference, right

Re: How big is the Panamera?

Europeans don't have American sized parking spots in their tiny towns so Porsche is not going to build some disgusting Rolls-Royce wanna-be. It's going to be very close dimensionally to the 7 series BMW and the MB CLS. Within 4 inches is my estimate.

My credentials? Been driving Porsche since 1974, lived near the factory and used to hang out there in the 70s, 80s and 90s... But I'm still only guessing. It's Top Secret.
