Today is 24th August... is there gonna be more information from Porsche

What kind of "more information" do you need ?

We have photos, we have all the specs, we even have the options, colors, prices (Germany) and almost every possible detail.

What you need more ? Smiley

Yes, you`re right. But how about detail videos like BMW do on new release models? Yes, it`s all "visual", but as we say in Portugal: "one image is worth more then 1000 words"...

And a worldwide release, what about a Catalog in English? Smiley

    WAY:
You guys talking about prices is making me depressed. Our 991 Carrera will cost $229,900 and C2S will be $263,100 before on road costs which adds another $15k or so. Bear in mind one Aussie dollar is more than one US dollar! Sigh.

oh man......if we only had such low import duties here Smiley

If he is old enough to ride facing foward then yes, otherwise he would have to go on the front passenger seat with airbag off.

That racing yellow looks quite nice! A bit showy though. What is also interesting on that pic is the inner part of the headlights in black.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

    Carlos from Spain:
    WAY:
I think I will by pass on the PDCC and -20mm. Why? Because this isn't a track car, and I will leave those options until I get the 991 GT3. What I want is something with a bit of luxury, but still fun to drive yet comfortable enough for my family. So at the moment I am thinking platinum silver, full natural leather in cocoa, PSE, SC, PCCB, DEM, PDK with paddles, black wheels. What do you guys think? Did I miss anything important?

WAY, I would change the DEM for the PDCC, while PDCC helps in making the car corner flat when it needs to, it also works the other way around by softening the roll bars in certain situations for confort, such as going over speed bump or uneven surfaces were one wheel becomes raised or lowered with respect to the other at lower speeds, and making thr suspensions more "indiependant" in those situations so that the unconfortable sway that is caused is transmited less to the car. At least that is in theory with electronic sway bars, we still don't know the one in the 911, but the Cayenne for example takes that to the extreme when in off roading mode so as to be more efficient at off road obsticles and terrain. Also reducing the body roll in the corners also helps in the confort of the pasegers. So I would argue that PDCC is not only a handling option but also a confrot option to a certain degree. While DEM as far as I know doesn't do much for confort and was born out of the 997GT3 for track performance in mind. Jus my two cents Smiley 21

    --

Thanks. I had DEM in my first GT3, then also on my second GT3. I like the way it makes the engine feel like it is bolted directly to the body like a race car. You can really feel the difference. But then you may be right, it's probably an option I should keep for the next GT3 instead.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

    reginos:

Looking at the German price list kindly posted by Kreso I noticed that a minimum of another 9.000 Euro are needed for "compulsory options"  on the Carrera S model i.e. PSE, PDCC, PTV and Sport Chrono. More if you choose the -20mm chassis.

Porsche's initial price is very theoretical as no car will be delivered without the above options

Skimming the cream has always been a Porsche speciality!

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

It looks like a nice new version - just a few exterior changes which preseve the values of the previous models.

I am very connected to 911s for many reasons.

I was born in Sept. 1963 - in Wiesbaden - a few miles from the 'birth' of the first version.

On Sept. 30th - the day James Dean died in his Porsche.

I grew up in Austria, a stones throw from Gmund. (yes, I am a transplanted Austrian living in Kansas and loving it)

Rode in the back of 911s as a kid for as far back as I can remember, would sit and stare at a 69S in my parents driveway for hours.  Caught the bug Early!

Bought my first Porsche, a 914 (all I could afford) one month prior to my 16th birthday.  Sadly it was totalled by a drunk months later, I was lucky to survive - but un-detered!

Since then I have only driven 911s - all my life - my 997S is my 7th Porsche, one of the first 500 built and I have owned it for 100K + excellent miles.

I have have lived the ultimate 911 driving life. Lucky to be in 911s every day, rain or snow - all over North America.  I estimate more than 700K happy 911 miles.

My idea of fun - a road trip to Montreal from Kansas City next weekend FOR the WEEKEND.  Just a 2800 miles roundtrip - a mere drive to the store and back for me.  (I get around 25mpg averaging 80 mph for 19 hours straight - 14 minutes of total fuel stops - mileage and bigger gas tanks are important to me)

I am looking forward to buying the buying a NEW 50th anniversary edition in two years for my 50th b-day.  Until then I will wear the tires off my 997!

Never met a 996 or 997 sunroof that did not fall apart and rattle.  Curse of the US market, and why they are so cheap here IMHO.  Hope the new sunroof does not rattle, would not surprise me that it turned out the way it did because the could not get the old design to stop rattling, lol.

    Carlos from Spain:

A little bit, but its not like there's a mini fridge under there like on the Panamera, just a transmission!

And pjd, I agree, I still think we need a little bit more. The configurator isn't live yet, nor is the web special, and there aren't any videos yet in typical Porsche fashion.

I don't think so. They appear higher because the 991 is in front. And in reality, the 991 has a lower front end than the 997.

You can no longer see the motor by opening the rear deck lid in the 991, not that there was much to see in the 997/996 anyway, but instead you get another lid with just access to the oil, etc. There is a pic in this thread of when the 991was tested in South Africa that showed it.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

Perhaps. But the front fenders line is higher for sure. Also the A pillar looks more inclined than the 997 one. And the wider front track will be important too for the change in front visibility.

I am sooooo curious on how is the visibility affected by all these changes.

Well... See you guys in Frankfurt soon Smiley

I believe one of the journalists who rode in the 991 said, yes the windshield isn't as in your face as it is on most 911s, its still very in your face, and has typical visibility of a 911.

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the new 991...

I will post this again since my last technical comments about 991 did not receive any comment...

If you want new 991 as a object-not as a sportscar then buy a low option car.

BUT, if you want true sportscar then following items are a MUST order:

SPASM code 030 for Carrera since it is not only featuring lower and stiffer suspension BUT also modified front spoiler lip and rear spoiler then can extended further then on cars without SPASM. SPASM models offer better aerodynamics-a fact.

PDCC/SPASM code 031 for Carrera S. Same as SPASM with active stabilisators.

PTV Plus code 221 for Carrera.

SC Package code 640 for both models since it features dynamic engine mount and Sport+ programm for PDK.

PSE code 176 for both models.

PDK code 250 plus steeringwheel with paddles code 840 for both models

    and you can think about

Servosteering Plus code 658 for both models and PCCBs code 450 for both models. Also new sportseats plus are better offer then new adaptive sportseats plus.
