    Dension GW500 version 2.03

    Has anyone tried this latetst upgrade?? According to Dension the upgrade does the following:-

    'Modifications:
    -------------
    - BTA driver: BTA1000 displays call time when call is in progress.

    Bug fixes:
    ---------
    - Gateway 500 is not changing the repeat and random settings of the HU after ignition is
    turned on, or CDC source is switched back from FM.'


    Does this mean that the head unit now remembers and keeps the random or repeat function on all the time?

    My Dension GW 500 with BTA1000 i sbeing fitted as we speak and I have asked the installer to put the new 2.03 firmware on so will keep you posted when I get her back.

    GW500 with BTA bluetooth installed yesterday. Upgraded to V2.03 this morning no problems. It now retains settings such as random when you switch off and on.

    Installed the GW500 with BTA1000 over the weekend and just did the firmware upgrade. Interface works very well now, however, I'm having a tough time pairing my phone. The manual is not very explicit. Can anyone post the procedure used for pairing?

    Check to make sure no pins are bent in the DIN connector and check disc 6, enter Menu, then source and check if BT phone is available in the menu. And be sure you are running 2.03 firmware!

    Here is customer write up from Rennlist thread...

    i hooked the BT up without the mute wire, and at the moment i don't see why you need it. if the phone rings, you have to push several buttons to get to the right screen and there was no music. I'll have to play with it some more. i know i'm missing something on this part.
    Anyway, for those of you wanting to do this, here are a couple screen captures. It took me a while to figure out how to access the BT when i was listening to the iPod -go to CD6 and then menu and then >> (might be off on this since I tried several ways until i finally found it)

    Also, when I go to source, I don't see any BT option. Is it possible that is not properly connected? I can't check it because it was installed behind the HU.

    Not happy with 2.03

    Ok, have tried out 2.03 for a few weeks and have been very disappointed.

    For some reason, if I don't drive the car for more than a couple of days, the Dension 2.03 would stop recognizing my iPod. Resetting the Dension unit and iPod doesn't help. I haven't figured out the sequence to get the two talk to each other.

    Never have this problem with 2.02, thinking of switching back.

    I am running 2.03 and my car usuage is also a couple of days a week....I dont have this issue.....mine fires up fine each time. I think you should go back to your installer and have them re-look at your wiring/setup.

    I don't have the issue you describe either, Eric. I had Benchmark redo the installation moving the Dension to behind the PCM and it's been working great since then. No more rattling sounds.

    You are at the correct screen. It says 'source'. Try holding down the >> key when 'source' is displayed. That should take you to the screen where each of the dennison sources are listed -as in previous post of pics by eric.

    Do you guys have the phone module installed and activated as well? Thanks Jason and Nad, didn't know there are different ways to hook up the system. I wonder if it's related to my fairly old iPod with a battery always dying.

    I tried going back to 2.02. Funny on the iPod it says 2.02 but the screen layout is still the 2.03 version.

    Then I do have an installation issue because I only get the following options:

    AUX
    Ipod UI
    Ipod GW
    No USB

    I'll take it back to the installer to see what is going on.

    I posted here or on 6 Speed that my installer was having problems getting my I-Pod to play. I believe it was you that answered that perhaps my installer was the problem. Well here is extra information to consider: My installer has currently put a hold on any further installations on NEW cars. He has installed the GW500 in my car, a Carrera 4S, and a Cayanne S all with the same results - it doesn't work. The thing stays in the I-Pod user mode and won't go into the Gateway mode. The important piece of the puzzle is that all three cars are brand new. He just installed a unit in a several month old Cayanne Turbo and it works like a charm. The installer has talked with Dension who has finally acknowledged the problem, which seems to be related to change by Porsche (or its' supplier) to the PCM head unit.

    So my question remains the same: Is anyone else experiencing this problem on a NEW car? (My build date was the week of May 28, 2007.) I have the latest I-Pod unit, which has the latest software updates as does the installed Dension GW500 unit.

    Apparently Dension is in the process of developing some new software to make the GW500 compatible with the latest PCM configuration. I'll be happy (make that "very happy") to let you know when this problem is resolved.

    Can anyone recommend an installer for the dension icelink in the Wash DC area? ALSO can we hook up both ipod and sirius radio through dension? Thank you
