I agree the 123d M Sport Coupe. 150mph, 0-62mph in 6 seconds, 50 mpg and a lower CO2 output than SWMBO's Honda Jazz auto. The way performance cars of tomorrow are going to have to go.

Or, for the same money, a lightly used 335d.

But NOT from the BMW dealer I have had to suffer in the past.

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

I think BMW has the ugliest lineup in automotive history.
It is by no means a bland lineup designwise, since you can hardly help forming an opinion about them - but it is a line-up that displays a disconcerting lack of good taste and basic understanding of shapes and proportions.
With all due respect for people who have invested in the M6, it's so hideous only a mother - or in this case an apparantly stoned designer - could love it.

The only Beemer that remotely fascinates me is the M5.
The rest of the line-up may very well be "ultimate driving machines", but they also remain "ultimate design fukc-ups".

The 5series (among all those "bangled" BMWs) is the one car that does look OK. However, only from the outside. Just take a look at the interior. Simply disugusting

I used to buy BMWs years ago. I never understood why they did not fire their design team. These guys might be good for designing gardening equipment...

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

I think you're being too harsh, dr. phil. The m3 and x5 look very good to me, and certainly not hideous.

If only one car in the line-up should look good, it's the 7-series. The old one looked so sleek and it still does even today, but the current one looks as if it were made to be inflatable .

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

Mksgr must have been treated bad at some beemer dealership. BMW has never done a revolutionary design just evolutionary. They used to be so boxy 15 years ago but now are more curved and sleek.

Plus their engines are amazing. There was a video of 10 supercars being tested at the london city airport about a year ago and the bmw out performed many.

How about this one?

Very nice , also , thanks for your support ...

PS::@ Porsche , thats what your Panamera should have looked like ...

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

New 7 series (codename F01) will have new design which will be similar to CS concept. Also BMW already started work on new 8 series and this one will be almost identical to CS concept. Test mule in following link is 8 series and not 7 series as is written on wcfans:

http://www.worldcarfans.com/9071210.008/2009-bmw-7-series-spied-with-psychedelic-camouflage

In first chapter is written:
" Looking closely at these photos we can now see the most revealing glimpses of the all new styling with a new front grille and a wider and lower hood for a sportier look."

Thats because its 8 series and not 7 series Chassis is still adjusted E65, but under body are parts of 8 series.

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

Well, to choose one you'd need to get on their d@mn website first...(What is up with BMW's website nowadays, useless)

3 Series for me. M3/M3CSL or even the 335i.

[edit]

Maybe even an X5.

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

I'd definitely get a blue Z8 with cream leather, absolutely stunning.

if not that, I've always had a thing for the M1, and incredible car!

Ah, yes. The Z8.
Again, Danish design at its finest
But sadly it's not part of the current line-up, so I'm afraid it doesnt count

BITCH ,,,

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

For a current line-up model, I'd probably go for the M3 or M5 Touring.

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

As I'm still young, I'd prefer the smallest bimmer of the range, I've driven it a couple of times and it really convinced me, a 130i M-Sport Sporthatch, with an aftermarket LSD though, the thing screams for it...

If it might be a little more expensive, I'd choose the Z4M Coupé, as it's the last BMW with the fabulous S54-engine

If it'd be a future (I'm hoping it really is coming) I'd have the 1-serie Tii (concept)
I loved the philosophy of the thing, back to basics, small, "light", RWD, ...

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

Instead of 130i, how about a 135i? And btw, not sure about others but at 32 I too think of myself as pretty young!

32 is AMV8 young, 22 is 130i young

The 135i isn't available as Sporthatch and I don't like the 1-series coupé (unless it's the Tii-concept).
So I'd be happy with the 130i, it isn't much slower than its big brother either...

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

Considering there's so much bashing on the BM'S design there sure are selling loads of the 335i over here . Out for a drive today and there clearly selling like hot cakes , there everywhere and do look nice in the grey and silver's..The 3 series is yet again a winner for them...

And rightly so, IMO!

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

For me a M5 touring would do it!

...used E39 M5 today,
or may be E92 M3, ONLY if under pressure to pick one today...

...but I would wait until 2010 5series...since I've ALREADY started that process in 2003 with their cars...

Congrats , very nice ride..You very pleased ??..

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

I bought it because I was driving 70kms of highway per day.
For this, it is fantastic, best car I had so far.
It's quiet when you drive slowly, the engine sound is amazing when you do not drive slowly, it is confortable, the engine is brilliant (having so much torque at low rpm and so much power at high rpms is really fantastic, it feels fast whenever you accelarate), etc.
Now I'm driving only 35kms of small roads per day, so I'm selling it and I'm looking for a Cayman S.
The 335i is a amazing car, but not as fun as the 987S I had before (yes, the 335i is not really fun to drive), and now that I don't drive on highways anymore, I miss it

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

I know where your coming from , Bango ...

All the very best with your sale and enjoy your Cayman when you get it..

Re: If you would need to choose a bmw....

Thx throt, if only I could find one...
