I don't think somehow the DSG is lacking the ability to cope with power or torque. A version of the DSG is used in the Veyron.
Heavily modified into the DCT since the DSG couldn't handle the power transfers smoothly. The system in the Veyron is lightyears from the Audi/VW's DSG.
I did read though that the company that makes the Audi/VW version will be building Porsche's as well.
If anyone has read the full brochure for the 997TT you can see instantly the enormous complexity of transmitting power in that car. The new Turbo will without a doubt be the most mechanically/electronically complex production sports car ever built.
