Enmanuel:
Werner over here traffic laws are pretty much non existent, so speeding is a common thing. Also people who own sports cars usually have them as a token of how much money they have, speeding past the ¨normal¨ people is just their way of saying they´re better. or at least they think they are. There have been a few crashes of porsches, ferraris and lambos here in the last few years for exactly the same reasons. all in urban areas with a lof of nightlife traffic. It´s a shame that those cars aren´t owned by someone who actually enjoys them for what they are instead of just being there to scream ¨Look at me, im so much richer that you¨ in the face of other people.
This is sad indeed. This also sheds a very bad light on all sports cars owners because people actually always think that they are driving these cars to "compensate" for something. Even over here in Germany, I have to listen to stupid comments even from people close to me (like friends of my wife or neighbors) and it really sucks. I once took a friend of my wife with me in the 997 Turbo Ruf 550 I owned and when we returned, she told my wife that I am nuts and I am going to kill myself. From that day on, she never mentioned the car again to my wife, before that, she asked her on several occasions if I really need to drive this p.n.s extension (the car) to be happy.
Most people really think that we drive these cars because we want to show off but ask my wife, she knows me best. This is why she never complaints about me getting such cars, she knows that I love them, she knows they make me happy, she knows that I do not pick up other women in these cars and she knows that I can handle these cars quite well. Otherwise she would NEVER EVER let me drive with my kids in these cars, she is very protective and she refused to let the kids drive with other people on various occasions, just because she thought these people were not safe to drive with. So if my wife gives the OK, this means something.
Unfortunately most people think that expensive cars are for showing off only and you can explain it to them all day long that this isn't true, they don't believe you. This is also one of the reasons why I usually drive pretty relaxed and calm around my town, others passing me at crazy speeds or trying to provoke me at a red light or whereever. I want to show them that I don't care much (anymore) but sometimes, I get the feeling that this actually makes things worse because they consider me to be arrogant.
Well...you can't make everybody happy.
