    First Ferrari a F355 Spyder ????

    I'm sure this subject has been visited before but anyway I can't think of a better site so I will throw this out there in hopes of some good info...thanks in advance. I'm currently a Porsche owner and, thanks to your answers on my previous questions regarding owning a Ferrari,  I now realize that owning one can include a serious initial and regular financial commitment. But I can't help it I love the style and sound not to mention the feel. My concern / question is: How about a 1999 - 99 F355 spyder?  My research has located these models around $60 to $70K american. I understand that the F1 transmission could be a problem if it has encountered alot of stop and go traffic. Is the stick transmission better?  Any problems with the motors on the conv. top going out?  Any and all input is appreciated:

    The F355 is one, if not the nicest modern Ferrari. I still love its looks (and always will). As you already said, the F355 needs a bit of a financial investment. Every three year you have to change the belt, the engine has to be removed completely for that, it takes about one and a half day to do the service with the corresponding costs. Also the build quality is though far better than at earlier cars not as good as at today's Ferrari, spare parts if purchased by official dealers are quite expensive. Soft top mechanism is a bit of a crap in the F355, IMO the first good soft top came with the F360.

    In the F355 I would not take the F1, too slow and high cost if you have to replace the clutch. The stick looks great and can be used quite easily when the transmission is warm (shouldn't be the problem in Florida ). Gear change comfort is comparable to a 964 Carrera for example.
