    Newbie 996TT just joining the board

    Hi all,

    I am a new owner of a 996TT, I am coming out of a CL600 Bi-turbo to get into this car.

    A few quick questions:

    What do you guys think of Lapis Blue ? I think it is one of the best colours for the 996 IMO

    Can parking sensors be dealer fitted, as the car doesn't have them ?

    settled on the Tip because I have been driving MB for the last couple of years & I have gotten lazy.

    plus it is a used car & it is the best deal I could negotiate on.
    other dealers were not as keen to deal against my CL600.

    Is there anything I should be aware of with regards to the tip ?
    I gathered there was an even split between Manual & Tip transmissions.
    I will not be doing track days, just my day to day car & quite a bit of town driving.

    Remember that 996TT is alot smaller than the Benz and easier to park. Are you sure you need that annoying beeping sound while you park your sportscar?

    Beautiful P-car! The best creature comfort is feeling the TT pull when you stomp on it. I always park far from anything anyway. Enjoy.

    I was going to say "Welcome aboard Rennteam.com," but, alas, you registered here before I.

    Nice colors. I bought a new triple black 2005 TSCab, although when I get the 997T, I'll likely go with sand beige (all leather) interior-with black or Lapis exterior.

    I'm still breaking mine in, but even keeping revs below 4,000+, I feel the car's rush of acceleration from 3,000 rpm's up. Can't wait to redline it.

    I have a 2004 996TT cabriolet in Lapis blue with the same Graphite grey interior as have you.

    The only difference that I can see from your pix is mine has deviating Metropol blue carpets.

    I, of course, think Lapis w/Graphite is perfect!

    Took delivery of the CT today
    The colour is truly sublime & suits the car perfectly IMO.

    Very happy with the performance, a completely different car from the CL 600.

    One tip the techie gave me was to click the kickdown pedal twice quickly when driving to reprogram the shifting pattern back into sport if I have been driving the car around town for a long period.

    Not tried it yet, but no doubt I will sooner rather than later.

    I will get some new pics up soon.

    hi sirees, some pics of your CT please?! i will take delivery of mine on the 27th of july(it's my birthday too!!!) lol i wonder if porsche didn't plan that on purpose?

    Yeh, they always do it that way. Poor guy I know only gets to change his ride every four years. You guessed it, his birthday's on February 29.

    Congrats on your new ride. You'll love it (especially when coming from a CL 600!)

    About the parking sensors: Actually I think that they're ruining the look of the rear bumper. Having said that, I'd love to get rid of PDC sensors.

    it's got an auto tranny, so i don't really see the need to moddiing it, i think it's perfect as it is

    I have the dull grey on my 996tt, I would like to go white, can this be done ?

    my mistake, I have black dials on my turbo.
    I like the grey in the above photo, can this be changed ?

    I don't have Turbo written on the centre dial of my 04 996tt any ideas why, or was this a later release ?

    hey, since yours is a Tip, can you tell me if the tranny rev-matches on downshifts? I mean, does it blip the throttle, or does it just engage the lower gear straight through?

    The Turbo inscription on the centre dial is from MY04 on.
