    How good is E-gear on early Gallardo?

    I have been offered an early (ie. late 2004) Gallardo E-Gear for what seems like a very decent price. Because it is winter it's a bit cheaper than it would usually cost, and I can keep my Ferrari.

    I was wondering what the verdict is on early as opposed to late E-Gear's. I specifically want this box on the Lambo as my Ferrari is manual. Are there any software upgrades that could/should have been carried out? The car has had an "E" series clutch so that should be OK for awhile.

    Any info is appreciated.

    I test drove q 2005 e-gear offered to me on saturday, I was told to stay clear of the early model Garllardo i.e 04&05 they are abit problematic. One thing I didn't understand about the e-gear I drove was if you are at a stand still for more than 4mins in 1st gear, the car automatically chanhes back to neutral. I was told that this is to protect the clutch system so that it doesn't overheat. I have decided to go for an 2006 or 2007 car just to be on the safe side. preferably I don't like manuals or should I say I can't drive a manual Gallardo because of my height.
    Compared to the F1 in a ferrari, I believe the e-gear is quite close if not as good as the F1 system

    I have had several F1 Ferrari's, the latest was a 2003 Modena which had a great shift.

    I wouldnt keep any car in first gear at standstill for that long anyway, that will fry any clutch, manual or egear..

    I wonder if there are any software updates for the earlier transmission? After all it is just electronics, so I'm sure they can be upgraded.

    I'm pretty tall too (6'4) and never had a problem in many Ferrari's, 355, 360 and 550. The Gallardo manual is fine for me but I want an e-gear this time.

    The same at Ferrari's F1.

    I got 2004 E-gear Gallardo , i reccomend you to get 06+ model ones. They are better and more driver friendly. But however if you have the updates and a new type of clutch on 2004 it will give you no problem. But at the top as i said 06+ ones nore driver friendly and not much annoying in traffic. (Just an example: i stall the car(even it is E-gear) at the weekend when i am trying to do park a small place)

    if you have a lot of traffic driving , 04 egear might annoy you, as it hates slow manouvering. but again if it has an eclutch and all the software updates you should be fine

    I put 26000 miles on my 04. It had the 679RWHP
    engine for the last 14000 miles I drove the hell
    out of it NO E=GEAR problems the bad reputation
    was corrected with software upgrades.
