How hard could it be to order a 2009 GT3 ??

I had an auto broker friend of mine make some calls last week to try to put me on the list for a GT3 mkII and the two or 3 dealers he knew said they had no more spots available, he found one place that said there was only 3 people on the backup list, so he put me on, but I doubt 3 people are going to back out... I'm in Southern California, should I have him try some dealerships in other parts of the country? Would that be easier to get on the list? I mean, it's a 2009 car, how hard could it be to place an order on one? I would just get an RS but those are going for too much over MSRP for me to justify...

2008 will probably be the last year of the 997 GT3, where are you hearing about 09?

Where did you hear that 2008 will be the last for the GT3?

Maybe you are talking about the RS, because 2008 is the last year for that...

I was at my Dealer yesterday the person I deal w/ is the owner and he was mentioning how fewer cars Porsche is selling into the US. Said he sold 220 cars in 2006 and will be lucky to get 150 cars this yr. Not because sales died down but because Porsche just isn't releasing cars. He spefically mentioned the GT3.

All GT3's are sold for the current series and dealers are returning deposits in the UK.

Since we have to put GBP 10k down just to order it the dealers aren't too happy and refused to take my order. If there's a new 3.8l model coming I guess it will be in line with the facelift and it wouldn't surprise me if that comes after 2009. My dealer want s me to buy another 997S now and then swap me to the new 3.8 GT3 when and if it comes. But they have no information whatsoever on that yet. THe only change on the GT3/RS for 2008 is the availability of the GT2 standard seat - carbon backed reclining sports seats and the other minor changes in line with the rest of the range.(button re-labelled nav+ only etc.)
