    Squeaky sound

    I was driving on a mountain road Saturday and heard a squeaky sound (like old bed springs) when making slight left steering wheel movements, but no sounds turning right.

    My car is a 997 GT3 with 1,450 miles on it.

    Any ideas?

    It seems most steering wheels have that. The sound comes and goes.

    I saw a white GT3 driving down on La Honda Road today around 1PM? Was it you?

    No, my car is GT Silver.

    I was driving in Napa (hwy 121) and Lake Berryessa (hwy 128).

    I have a 2005 997 Carrera S. When I first purchased the car I had the same problem; almost a creaking sound coming from drivers' side wheelwell. After 2 trips to the dealer to try and make the sound replicate, discovered that it was the bushings in the front suspension. Porsche replaced the bushings and all was solved.

    Was somewhat embarassing, purchasing a 90K car and it sounding like a buckboard. I'm confident this is the problem.

    Have them check the front bushings in the suspension.

    Had similar symptoms on a 996TTS I had....was a broken ?steering arm/mechanism....would def have dealer eval...

    BTW, another interesting set of roads in Napa are: Howell Mtn E through Angwin, w/downward mtn twisties onto ChilesPopeVy Rd S twd Lk Berryessa....

    But after an episode w/a flat tire/bent rim in those mtn twisties....and realizing that cell reception isn't great/flat-bed tow trucks are scarce/competent trauma ctrs are rather far away, I've become much more a fan of Woodside mtn twisties....

    ADias, def like the WoodsideRd/LaHondaRd set of twisties Many 997GT3s/CGTs/599s/Veyrons are often seen getting their wkend exercise on those roads....
