    Carrera S (Tiptronic) Top speed (Tested)

    About a week a ago I've reached 310 km/h on my Carrera S Tiptronic (Thats about 192 m/h)
    If I'm willing to do it again I will take a pic
    (I've tested the 996 turbo tiptronic and it was 298
    and the 996 turbo (x50) tiptronic and it was 320

    , 310kph with tiptronic????, are you sure???...I know that wasn't the real speed but looking to the tach and seeing that figuere
    Then imagine if its manual transmission..320kph??? , nevertheless seeing 300kph in the tach, is really impressive...

    According to Porsche, the Carrera S Tiptronic has a topspeed of 285 km/h.
    I'm pretty sure some cars will go a bit faster than specced, but 25 km/h more sounds unlikely. That's faster than the GT3 and the 996 Turbo S. Not to meantion almost as fast as the Ferrari 430 (315 km/h).

    I'm sure the speedometer said 310 km/h, but unless you have excessive tailwind or were driving downhill I think you need to get your speedometer checked.
    It takes so much extra power to just go 10 km/h faster at those top speeds, that it's highly unlikely that the car suddenly is so much faster than stock.

    WELL ITS REALLY IMPRESSIVE INDEED TO SEE THAT FIGURE but please keep in mind that all tachometers have a certain degree of "fault". In some road tests this fault is even calculated.
    and keep in mind also that as the speed increases the fault percentage increases accordingly. So imagine, at 300 km/h the degree of fault.

    This is NOT the case with my car. My 996 C4Cab shows exactly +6Km/h more on the speedo. At least between 30Km/h and about 160Km/h as this is the range that I've tested it so far.

    This number doesn't surprise me at all.
    My 3.4l 996 Cab reached 301Kph on the digital and 303Kph on the analogical speedo with 55Hhp less.

    Here's a shot at 301Kph on the anal.speedo

    Call me a wuss if you will, but I've been at 180+ on a public highway before, and I never intend to go there again. All it takes is one little critter, a rabbit, a 'coon, anything to dart out under a tire at 170-180-190 mph, and your children get to grow up without you... Too much risk involved, even when I've got all of the variables I can possibly control in-check.

    That aside, AMAZING legs on the new 997S, although wind direction is a HUGE variable that could have given you a big gift on the top-end.

    I never tryed the top speed of the murcielago its just scary and not as safe as the porsche, and to tell you the truth I wasnt scared at all infact I was tying to get my phone from my side pocket when I saw the 310kmh on the digital and analogical speedo but there wasnt enugh space for 1 pic (I've downloaded a big video the day before this)
    I was very disappointed but next time if I'm on that road and nobody come behind me in 3-5 min then ill do it and I'll make sure to have a pic or a video
