My first drive of a CS

Got to take a Cayman S out for a quick spin this morning, whilst waiting for mine to be serviced.
The car was on 19's, Michelins, and standard suspension. Had about 1500 miles on the clock.

It was only a short run, too short for me to get a full impression, but:

Acoustics of the interior seemed to make the engine noise a little boomy in the cabin. A minor thing, but it might get annoying after a while.

Engine probably not freed up yet, but it didn't seem miles ahead of the 3.2. I didn't have enough time, or a free enough road to play too much though.

Interior very familiar but the side 'over the shoulder' visibility is noticably better, which I liked.

Spinning across a few roundabouts, the agility was pretty good. I haven't had a comparably shod and suspended Boxster to play with, but it certainly seemed a little better composed and agile. I'd need more time to say if handling was significantly better than a Boxster.

Sales person said suspension setup is exactly the same as a Boxster.

Nice jolly. Most noticable difference are the engine boom (bad) and side visibility (good). Jury is out on the engine and handling. I'd need more time.

How was the ride? I'd guess on 19" and no PASM firmer than the Boxster S? Yours has 18" and PASM if I recall correctly

Re: My first drive of a CS

Ride was fine. I suspect mine drifts to a harder setting anyway (longstanding Rennteamers will know that I have a lack of faith in PASM). My next car will probably be standard suspension and 19's.

I wish Porsche would offer a -20mm option on the Boxster/Cayman, to give a 3rd choice.

Make it -20mm + LSD and that would be perfect

    Indeed

Re: My first drive of a CS

Having gone from Boxster 18's -> Boxster 19's -> Cayman 19's (all non-PASM cars), I can say that the difference in ride-quality between Boxsters was very small. However, by comparison, the Cayman on 19's is very very hard.

Re: My first drive of a CS

Just to quantify my comments, I'm back to swerving around pot-holes

If the turbo's didn't look so nice, I would be a unhappy.
