    A Thought Of Interest

    If the same driver (same abilities, weight, etc.) drove a stock 997 around the Nurburgring (no traffic) and then took a 997 all stock but with aerokit (assuming he had not driven the stock 997 first) at the same start time as he would with the stock 997 (same track conditions, temp., tyres, etc.) - would the time difference be enormous or very marginal?

    I do not think there would be a time difference at all.

    Less lift = better lateral traction = faster turns = better lap times. Therefore answer = FASTER. --- How much?

    Turbo911, why the driver shouldnt have driven the first tock car before the one with the aerokit?

    I would imagine very marginal.

    I suspect that kit is mostly for looks, so I'd love to see some real proof of it's benefits beyond a quote regarding how much it reduces lift.

    Well it's a testable hypothesis that lends itself to a reasonable experimental design with specified parameters and repeated trials to establish some statistical accuracy.

    ...and of course there'd be added drag from the bigger front dam and rear spoiler resulting in a lower straight-line speed. Hmmm fascinating.

    Anyone have a spare kitted and unkitted 997s for us to try it out?

    Kitted version should be a bit faster (better traction as said before), but may not be as clear-cut as one might expect.

    Although the lap times will most likely be quite close, the subjective driving sensations might be significantly different at speed. The aerokit would most likely lend itself to greater stability in the corners and on the high speed sweepers. It would probably be much more confidence-inspiring and nicer to drive. However, the lap times will not differ a ton, since it might be marginally faster in the corners, yet significantly slower on the very fast part of the Ring (near the start-finish line).

    This is because the driver will learn the track and the car's abilities - the driver will probably push himself further on his 2nd driv.e
