    Quick Question Window Operation

I know I could RTFM, but the car's in the shop for the infamous System Fault message and it occured to me that when I hit the up button for the passenger window, unless the window is about half way up already, the window will not automatically raise to its full up position. I.e., if the window were fully open and I pushed the button to the full up position, the window will move up as long as I have my finger on the button. When I let it go, the window stops. If the window is more than half closed, it will close the rest of the way with a quick jab to the full up position on the button. The driver's window seems to work fine. Anyone else notice a difference in the operation of their automatic up button position on their passenger window? TIA.

    Re: Quick Question Window Operation

I believe that they no longer have one touch up because of safety concerns. I think that one touch down still works. Apparently they will allow one touch operation once the window is at least half way up. Here is what the manual has to say about it:

"One-touch operation for closing the passenger's
window is available once the window is approximately
    half-way closed."

    Re: Quick Question Window Operation

yea, the same with mine. What are the safety concerns with that?

    Thanks,
    Ray

    Re: Quick Question Window Operation

Yeah - mine does the same - drives me mad as it's often a while before I realise the window on the passenger side isn't shut.

They are concerned about the possibility of putting the window up with a child's head in the way. You obviously could still do it even without one touch, but I read somewhere that all cars will no longer have one touch up. Down is okay.

Inadvertently closing the window on a sleeping passenger's arm or any other extremety. It's one of those "one-in-a-million chance" thingies they're trying to avoid. They figure that if the window is already past half-up, that there's no chance that anybody has their arm hanging out the window by that point. The autodown windows drive me a bit nutty when I'm just trying to crack the window a bit. It starts going all the way down. Then, when I try to move it back up, it "auto-ups" and closes all the way. Getting the friggin window opened where I want it is like a dog chasing its tail sometimes!!

    Re: Quick Question Window Operation

Is it not OK just to implement a 'roll back' if anything prevents the window from fully closing? Or is that not acceptable any more?

    Re: Quick Question Window Operation

I heard the options for windowclosing are different from country to country and depending on local safety laws

    Re: Quick Question Window Operation

"Inadvertently closing the window on a sleeping passenger's arm or any other extremety"

69' said the correct reason, i ve read it. Its made for avoiding to close the window with one arm of the passenger while sleeping..

Concerning security reasons, all windows now stop when they face a certain amount of resistance, to avoid suffication of heads,etc...

Although i must warn you i tried this(to stop a window while putting my arm between the gap) and the window got blosked, next day went to dealer..so you might damage mechanism if you try it..

Moreover, its not wise to make such test because your car might not be equiped with such security system and then the window will block your arm,head,etc...

    SO thats about it

    Re: Quick Question Window Operation

hmmmm.... tried this on mine tonight and it shut completely with a single touch?????

    Maybe b/c it's a cab
