Gallardo Test

German "auto motor und sport" has tested the Gallardo in its current issue:

Vmax: 309 km/h

weight: 1612 kg

consumption 21,9 l/100 km

They gave it their highest ranking.

What about the test of the Carrera GT in the same issue.

Regarding the car they tested, was it a 6 speed or the e gear?

Weight being 1612 kg, (3580 lbs)??

There has to be an explanation, that is almost 200 kg heavier then stated by Lambo!! The car is almost 100% aluminum and the 996tt is not yet the Lambo is heavier

The car was equipped with the e gear.

Does anyone know when the Gallardo will be tested by any of the American mags: ie Car & Driver? It would be interesting to seeing how the car test numbers pan out!

Well, you really didn't expect the Gallardo to have less than 1500 kg, did you?

Performance is still impressive, even the 996 Turbo Powerkit can't beat the Gallardo in the upper speed range. Not to speak about the fabolous track performance.
However: I'd like to know how reliable the Gallardo is, former Lamborghini models (with the exception of the Murcielago maybe) don't have a very good reputation regarding reliability.

The weight stated before by Lamborghini was dry weight.

1612 kg (EC. directive (Oil and fluids filled, 90% tank of gasoline + 67kg driver and 8kg luggage)

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't EC law demand to adverstise the weight with driver, fuel, etc.?
You're right with your assumption but I don't think it was right to advertise the Gallardo's weight this way.

I am sure a big contirbutor to the Gallardo's weight is it's all wheel drive system. Althought the car is completely aluminum? Hmmm?
As far as the Gallardo's reliability, do keep in mind that it is backed by Audi. If that even helps any??????????

Unfortunately that seems to be common for Italian car makers, look at the Stradale, Gallardo etc.

They should be as honest as Porsche...

YEAH, as honest as Porsche has been about the CGT's weight, performance numbers, right??

all the manufacturers play the same game like it or not...
