    PCM 2 CD based


    By anychance, does anyone know if some updated maps are available for EUROPE for a PCM 2 CD based.

    I checked on www.navteq.com and for EUROPE, Porsche isn't listed as a "manufacturer" while it is for North America.

    I went to my dealer and the parts department told me there has been no update since 2002 !!!

    Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Its true, Porsche did noy buy from Navtech any more updates and left the 996 onwers in the dry here beyond 2002.

    I have heard though that the CD form another car maker that uses the same SatNav system may work. I can't remember the brand but it may have been Opel

    Thanks Carlos, it's very kind. It's rude from Porsche not to allow 996 owners to get any update while they are available for North American owners !!!

    I'll try to investigate myself what other brand can be compatible...

    That would be interesting to know if another data disc would work.

    Please send some info to the board if you find something.

    I checked it out, and yes its the Opel Navtech CD that works but you needed to have the 16bit version software 5.43 and I beliebe the PCM-II is, if you have this 5.43 version, it seems you can read the Opel 2005 CD. If you don't have this version I believe you have update discs by Porsche Techquipment.
    Hope this helps, its worth a try

    It's super kind Carlos, I'll check what is my software version and I'll try to buy some 2005 Opel CD.
