I have never been able to answer this question adequately and still can't as I have not had enough seat time in my LaFerrari (acquired  during Covid). However, like you it is easy for me to say what would be 5th - and that is the Enzo both from a looks point of view and driving experience. Looks wise 288 GTO and LaFerrari and F40 equal first (cop out I know). Gear shift is easy - F50. I guess brakes is LaFerrari just because they are so much more effective. Sound would be Laferrari or Enzo. Surprisingly for a car with an F1 engine, the F50 is not that bone shaking except with straight through pipes which a friend of mine had and sounded like Armageddon when I drove it. I would give steering to the F40 as its so light and precise even at speed. I always struggle with the F40 at the top of people's list - Ferrari is first and foremost a V12 company. I admit defeat,  I can't rank them other than Enzo is 5th.

Re: Ranking the Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, & LaFerrari

Haha I would ranked Enzo at very the top, there isn't even a contest. It's still the best looking Ferrari hypercar.

For second place it's the 288GTO, the original.

3rd would be either the F40 or the LaFerrari,

    5th would be the F50.

Its really interesting to see so many people rank the Enzo last.  Agree with you on gearshift that the F50 is #1 and by a significant amount.  In terms of brakes, 288 GTO's are crap, F40, just slightly better, and F50 adequate at best.

Re: Ranking the Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, & LaFerrari

Considering only the design, I prefer the Enzo. Its proportions and angular shape were a significant departure from previous Ferrari designs, and I think it will continue to age very well. I mentioned before that it’s the only car in the group to be penned by a non-Italian (Ken Okuyama) and I think this contributes to its being more striking visually. I understand that there is far more to consider than just the exterior appearance, but that’s the component I’m most interested in. I’ve never driven any of them, but the F50 sounds like the most appealing drive to me... NA V12, gated manual, all analog...

Re: Ranking the Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, & LaFerrari

    F50 most drama to drive , F40 best looking , Enzo , 288 , Lala..... heart

Re: Ranking the Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, & LaFerrari

Not that someone asked me but I would only get the F40, the Enzo and the LaFerrari.

Not interested in the 288 GTO or F50.

I would only get cars I want to drive.

Now just give it to me..."stick to Lambo or Porsche...".  indecision

For me and just based on the looks since I haven't driven anyone: F50 =< 288 < F40 < Enzo <<< LaFerrari (the FXXK variant is wayyyyy more appealing though).

Isn't Porsche a VW and Ferrari a Fiat then? I think some Ferrari parts under the hood have even FCA logos. Smiley Smiley

Wasn't 80% of Ferrari stock distributed to FCA stock holders? Or should I say Stellantis now, which also includes Citroen and Peugeot too?

Do you know how many parts on your GT3 have a VW logo and/or parts number? Smiley Hint: More than any V12 Lambo has parts with Audi logo. Smiley

V10 engine block had an Audi emblem cast in it when I did the Lamborghini factory tour in 2011. V12 is uniquely Lamborghini though in VAG.

Re: Ranking the Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, & LaFerrari

I've never driven a LaFerrari so can't opine outside of seeing it etc.

The 288GTO will always be my favorite. It was one of the first cars I lusted after as a kid. It's wonderful and perfectly imperfect.

The F40 will always come next, it's one of the purest driving experiences there is and the just a wonderful spartan driving machine. At that age, even still a kid I was already a "Porsche" guy and hated myself for knowing the F40 was a better, more pure car than the 959.

I find the F50 an awkward car to look at but once you're in it... The viceral and aural joy it brings is enough to overcome.

Without driving it I'd put the LaFerrari here.

I"m not and never have been a fan of the Enzo. Fugly. Too shouty and not enough class to pull of the obnoxiousness.

The Performante/Evo engine has many changes over the R8 engine, even the lastest one (poor thing, with particulate filter an all). What also many people still don't know: The R8 engine is completely assembled in Hungary, the Lambo engine at Lambo in Italy. Only crankcase and cylinder block are made in Hungary, then shipped as parts to Italy.

This doesn't mean there isn't Audi engineering in this engine, of course there is. Probably the reason why my Performante has over 13000 km now, driven always as fast as possible and the engine works like a charm. I wish I could say the same about the catalytic converters, they both got destroyed but exchanged under warranty at no cost. Would have been an expensive repair (4-5k or so).

In one month, the big inspection/scheduled maintenance is due...will cost around 3k EUR, happy me. Smiley

Nobody really knows (and if they know, they would probably not tell me Smiley).

Had the OBD light coming on at some point and dealer checked the error codes but they weren't too conclusive, so he deleted them. OBD light was off for a couple of days, came on again, so the car went back to the dealer again for a more thorough analysis, also involving Lamborghini Europe. The conclusion was: Both catalytic converters are damaged (maybe too much heat? They were glowing in red nicely after basically every spirited drive Smiley) and need to be replaced. Dealer did it in two days, parts were shipped from Lamborghini in 24 hours, everything worked like a charm. I remember a friend with his McLaren, he waited almost three months for a tail light (OK, this was a while ago). Smiley Smiley

Car was running without any performance issues even with the OBD light on but my mechanic said I should have the cats replaced because if something breaks off or whatever, it could damage the whole engine and I wouldn't be covered by warranty anymore if I was made aware of this. No big deal, the cats were replaced, car runs perfectly again.

Also had a little (well known according to my mechanic) issue with the rear view camera, which kind of turned itself off and on, especially after washing the car. They exchanged the camera (improved according to them, image quality is the same though) and no issues anymore. Everything done under warranty, no discussions, no problems. Excellent service.

I am lucky, my sales guy lives only a few kilometers away from me and whenever I need something done, he picks up the car and brings it back as well. Great service. I trust him completely, I am actually the reason he got his job at Lamborghini (he was the guy who sold me the Audi R8 Smiley) and I get along with him very well, also know his family and girlfriend, wonderful relationship if you have a car like hat.
