Top Gear presented by Chris Harris...

BBC Top Gear: "Welcome to your new Top Gear presenters!"

    (22 October 2019)

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome your new Top Gear hosts: Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff!

Following Matt LeBlanc’s announcement that he will leave TG after the next series, we’re proud to announce that comedian and entertainment host McGuinness, along with former Ashes-winning England cricketer Flintoff, will join Chris Harris for Series 27 of Top Gear TV.

Rory Reid will step down from the main presenting line-up, but will remain part of the Top Gear family, along with Sabine Schmitz. He’ll continue to be the face of TG’s companion show Extra Gear, and will form the heart of a larger digital presence for the show.

“Getting the Top Gear gig is a real honour,” McGuiness said. “To be hosting a show I’ve watched and loved from being a small boy is beyond exciting. Top Gear fans worldwide are a passionate bunch and I consider myself one of them.

“Now let’s start up this Great British machine and see what it can do,” he added.

Flintoff said: “It’s not often you have the chance to do both of your dream jobs, but I’m now lucky enough to say I will have. I’ve always been passionate about cars and I’m so excited to be joining the Top Gear team.”

Chris Harris added: “I think you can tell just how much fun we’re going to have making Top Gear with Paddy and Freddie. They’re both brilliant, natural entertainers – and their mischief mixed with the most exciting cars on the planet is sure to take the show to the next level.

“My dream job just got even better.”

Series 26 of Top Gear TV – Matt LeBlanc’s last as lead host – will debut in early 2019 on BBC Two, followed by Paddy, Freddie and Chris’s all-new Series 27 later in the year.

You should watch a show called Episodes. He plays himself and it's honestly one of the most hilarious shows I've ever watched.

Not a great track record as petrol heads, one buys a Lambo only to realize he didn't fit in it (https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/694719/freddie-flintoff-can-t-fit-in-lamborghini-andrew-car-england-cricket-news) and the other buys a Ferrari and chooses the California (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5599713/Paddy-McGuinness-splurges-160-00-Ferrari-California-cruises-streets-Manchester.html)

At least they finally got the primary presenter right.

Matt and Evans isnt on the same level as Harris when talking about cars and doing car shows. But who are the other 2 bozos?

Re: Top Gear presented by Chris Harris...

Brits. This is a BBC show after all.

Will give it a go (it's still a looooong way off - end 2019).

Both Paddy & Freddie are individuals very comfortable in their own skin. This edges the show back towards a Clarkson type era insofar as presenters with character. Rory was a step too far in yoooof-bland for my liking and although Matt was likeable I'd sensed his repertoire was spent - will see if that's confirmed this season.

Matt LeBlanc is an entertainer who enjoys cars...he was actually perfect for the show. So is Chris Harris, the pro. I wish they had kept LeBlanc and added an attractive female presenter/driver (not Schmitz Smiley) to the mix but hey, they probably know their viewer demographics better than I do.

Matt seems to have found new work in Hollywood (his "Man with a Plan" show is actually quite fun, my kids love it), so maybe this is the reason why he stopped doing Top Gear. Smiley

It's not an Italian TV gameshow!

Agree it would be nice to have a female in the mix though.  Can't think of too many candidates other than Jodie Kid, and even then she's probably better-suited to the other shows she does.  Actually, just read on Wikipedia that she was tipped when Evans left, but wasn't interested.

Personally, I don't care if they are make or female, as long as they are experienced petrolheads who are also able to transmit how sportscsrs feel and their character like Chris Harris. And that they all have chemistry with each other. Not to sure about the comedian and the cricket player for this reason, though I will reserve judgement until I see the show. I wasnt sure about Matt LeBlanc but he grew on me as the show progressed.

BBC Top Gear presented by Chris Harris and Matt LeBlanc will return to our TV screens on Sunday 17th February...

    * Top Gear TV returns! Series 26 starts 17 February 2019 *

Friends of Top Gear, we have good news: the brand-new series of TG TV returns to your screens, kicking off on Sunday 17 February at 8pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid will host five hour-long episodes, bringing you the very best in televisual motoring entertainment and consumer advice.

And thus, we bring you: the best supercar alternatives to a family estate, racing to the top of a mountain using the smallest 4x4s in the UK, driving across Sri Lanka in Tuk-tuks, Chris Harris mostly sideways on our track in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS, and buying (and racing) used luxury cars for the price of a new Dacia Sandero.

Guests taking to the track in our Reasonably Fast Car Our this series include X-Men star James Marsden, rapper and singer-songwriter Professor Green, and Episodes star Stephen Mangan.

So, mark up your novelty ‘puppies of 2019’ calendar: 17 February, 2019, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer at 8pm. Top Gear is back.

Speaking of sideways and tires: A friend of mine, he also got himself an E63 S a couple of months ago, just basically destroyed his winter tires in a couple of minutes last week. He did some show-off for his kid on a parking lot last Sunday and after he drove away, he noticed that something is wrong in the back with his car. He got out, looked at the back tires and they are completely done, I mean completely, to a point where it is dangerous to drive with them anymore (according to the mechanic, I haven't seen the tires yet). Apparently it wasn't the best idea to do the Drift mode show-off with winter tires on a warm(er) day... Smiley

Re: Top Gear presented by Chris Harris...

"Top Gear TV returns this Sunday! Your episode 1 preview here"

The new series of Top Gear is here! Episode 1 of series 26 kicks off Sunday 17 Feb. Here’s what we’ve got in store for you…

I like big boots and I cannot lie

What’s the best new family estate car on the market? According to the Top Gear producers, it’s the very competent, very spacious, very practical Skoda Superb. But Matt and Chris reckon there are a couple of better solutions to the family estate car question. Namely the 208mph Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, and the 190mph Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo.

Sure, the Fezza and the, um, Pezza might cost a combined, um, £350,000, but no one specified a price limit. And besides, they’ve both got boots, they’ve both got proper rear seats, they’re both four-wheel drive. How much more practicality do you need?

So to prove just how sensible and family-ish their Ferrari and Porsche really are, Chris and Matt headed to the fjords of Norway for a nice sensible roadtrip. Incorporating chainsaws, tunnels, and a strangely persistent Viking. Oh, and a couple of wingsuits and an enormous cliff, because TG really doesn’t give the BBC Health and Safety department enough to deal with on a daily basis already.

The Suzuki that went up a hill and (hopefully) came down a mountain

According to the Ordnance Survey, who is quite the authority on such things, there are precisely 120 mountains in Britain. According to Rory, who is somewhat less of an authority on such things, this is simply not enough mountains. Why, if you made a New Year’s resolution to climb one every day, you’d be done by mid-May. And presumably in really quite good shape, but that’s not the point.

So Rory, ever the dedicated patriot, set out to build Britain a whole new mountain, using nothing more than his bare hands. And a load of rocks. And the new Suzuki Ignis. A tiny four-by-four that’s quite possibly the cheapest new car capable of climbing a reasonably large hill.

A nice idea, but to spice things up a bit, the producers decided Rory should race for the honour of crowning Britain’s newest mountain against the established king of the tiny-4x4-city-car-thing market, the Fiat Panda Cross. Driven by Sabine Schmitz, a lady with no qualms about smashing a small Fiat – or indeed a medium-sized Rory – into tiny pieces in pursuit of victory.

Our Star In a Reasonably Fast Car is X-Men star James Marsden. Tune in 8pm UK, Sunday 17 Feb on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer
