    Sounds OK - about 10kph more than the 997TT... I am very cautious about Porsche recently. Cars like the 997TT, GT3, GT3RS do not deliver the expected performance. Something tells me that the GT2 might be the next car in this line... Hopefully I am wrong.

    Honestly, I doubt it... Everything below 35s would be a major surprise, don't you agree?

    BTW: Wasn't the CGT's speed on Doettinger Hoehe also >290kph

    The car looks perfect and fast. But in SA supertest my guess ,

    it will of course better than 996GT2 but not that much

    Examples 996-997 gt3, 996-997 TT and this is next??

    Just checked the CGT Spertest again. Top-speed on Doettinger Hoehe was also 294kph. Thus, the GT2 cannot be faster than the CGT. I think Porsche is trying to bullshit us again. Let's wait for the Supertest. Chances are high that the GT2 will not fully convince Sportauto. As I mentioned above just think of 997TT, GT3. GT3RS

    Horst von Slowly... Ups! von Saurma! So, think about it 996 GT2 achived 7.46min, the same time as Gallardo SL... My guess for 997 GT2 is Horst hands is 7.38-7.40min...
    One last thing-I would rather buy 997 GT2 and new M3 then RUF RT12 for the same money. BUT, that's me...

    7:38-7:40 would be a good result Let's hope for the best...

    P.S.: I would never order a GT2 without reading the Supertest first. Too many disappointments with Porsche recently

    I may have missed it, but I didn't notice anywhere in the brochure that it mentioned the car having a Limited Slip Differential. I hope they're not relying on Electronic ABD to handle that job!!!

    It weighs only about 40kg more than a GT3RS - with 100+ more hp!!

    And don't forget, with its new RAM AIR intake sytem, additional ponies will be added at speed. Therefore, it probably has closer to 540+hp - not bad at all. We also know that Porsche likes to be conservative with their HP figures.

    What's there not to like - perhaps the wheels should have been an original design? But that can be easily fixed.

    While you can't expect it to be faster than the CGT (let's be fair), it will certainly demand respect from anything else in its class.

    As for Ring times. I've said this before - IMO, it's not fair to compare times from previous sessions, too many variables WILL effect lap times. Even a simply rainfall the day before will wash away rubber from the track, making it less grippy. Wind direction (and speed) can also have a significant effect.

    Once under 8 minutes at the Ring, the going gets extremely tough! Just look at recent Sport Auto results - none have been as good as expected.

    The competition should be worried.

    I'll side with Kreso on this, BUT I have some reservations about PASM on the GT2, based on its dynamics on the RWD 997GT3 and AWD 997TT. And I don't know if a non-electrical aftermarket suspension with the PASM inactivated would dovetail with the GT2's new SC (stability control) which utilizes yaw velocity monitoring (rotation around the Z-axis) via sensors to mitigate catastrophic oversteer-although I don't see why not, since ABD/ABS, ASR/EDL and EDC or throttle control do not rely on one single suspension input. So in addition to TC (traction control) with its automatic brake differential, anti-slip and throttle control, we have "PSM-Plus." Kreso, I wonder if the GT2's SC is similar to my Audi RS4's ESP in that both are seemingly touted to control the Z-axis (rotation about vertical) via sensors sensitive to angular acceleration, with the obvious difference between them being AWD versus RWD setups-but with both able to be deactivated selectively-TC on-SC/ESP on, TC off-SC/ESP on, or TC off-SC/ESP off.

    I also agree with Markus that we need independent reviews/comparison times of the car whether from SA/HvS or anyone else-and that RT12 is one freakin' fast car.

    But we are also forgetting, with the GT2's new expansion intake instead of a traditional resonance intake, with bigger intercoolers and higher boost pressure with potentially lower EGT's, bigger compressors on the VTG's for even higher boost reserve, plus the GT2's potential 300-pound weight advantage over the TT, there still is room for tuning this baby.

    I am still NOT warming up to the vertical ventilation louvre's in the car's rear fenders, but the nose has the classic 911 Turbo look-massive front air intakes, a paired row of signal lights (in the 997's case LED's), and solo round headlamps that all have that "F-you" look about it-and in classic black or silver would still be "acceptable."

    RC and Kreso, keep the "leaks" dripping from the GT2 faucet!

    Al - you are going to be the King of everything turbocharged! You're getting one of those too?

    I just put a deposit on a turbocharged car too, but not in that league (BMW 135i - easy tuning for under $3k to 400hp and 420ft-lbs).

    Post your review of the Beemer after you have begun to mod it-once you experience the fun of tuning turbocharged cars, you'll be addicted-ever thought of getting a used 993 or 964 Turbo and tweaking it?

    That's assuming I take Kreso's advice and resist the temptation to put MTM's supercharger on it when it's released later this summer-okay, it's not a turbocharger but it's still a blower.

    I doubt it too. The car has PASM, PSM and launch control. Seems to me it's built more for straight line.

    As for weight, the 1440kg is total bullshit! The actual weight of the GT3 is over 3200 lbs. That would mean the GT2 is lighter than the GT3. Impossible!

    The Gt2 will likely weigh between 3300-3400 lbs. I doubt it will beat the 996gt2 by more than 2 sec, if at all.
