    Re: Panamera update spied

So just a facelift....no ass lift?

    Re: Panamera update spied

This car needs a kiss from a princess not a face (or butt) lift.

    Re: Panamera update spied

I think I saw a car just like that (maybe same one) while at Weissach last month.  One couldn't see anything that looked different or memorable because of the camo.

It would be very costly to completely change the rear but there will be changes which apparently aren't visible in the worldcars spy shot(s). Maybe Porsche is clever, using a mule for the front and another one for the rear only. This could confuse us. Smiley

It is also highly possible that the facelift will be limited to the front and some other minor annoyances because the rear part of the Panamera isn't easy to change (for example creating a 3-seater out of the rear).

Fact is: The front will not be 911-like, it will just be a "straightened out" design of the frontlights. A more "factual" design, which I welcome. The bad part is: According to our sources, this facelift had actually been planned with the first Panamera model, so I actual wonder why they didn't use it in the first place. Well... Smiley

    Re: Panamera update spied

According to German car magazine Autozeitung, these pics don't show a Panamera facelift but the upcoming Panamera GTS.

The Panamera GTS will be indeed a very interesting product. Rumored 440 horses but just 2WD (AWD not even optional at first) should be enough to make some people happy. Unfortunately the price tag with some options may come very close to the Panamera Turbo price tag, so I'm not sure who will actually go for the GTS. This is no sportscar.

According to rumors, the Panamera GTS will already have the facelift "elements" (whatever this means).

    Re: Panamera update spied

can you guys tell me what will be different for 2013 pane turbo S vs. 2012?  i hear they are spending big on fuel economy.   the car is hideous but very fast, so im thinking about it

    thank

    Re: Panamera update spied

RC, any idea when this update will be available. I am considering swapping my broken into Panamera (you may remember my post?) for a fresh one. Should this update be available soon I would hang in and wait for the updated car.

Having said this, do you think the new 991 would be more of an autobahn cruiser than the current 997? Given the longer wheelbase and roomier interior this could be the case. I am using my Panamera as a business car for longer journeys, but don't need the extra space really. I moved from a 997 Turbo to the Panamera and the change was unbelievable in terms of comfort, noise etc, but certainly the 911 "feel" is not present (I still have a 997 Cab though, so I am not without the feel completely) .

    Thanks for sharing your opinion.

    Re: Panamera update spied

If I had the choice, I would probably go for a Panamera Turbo S as my daily driver because it would fit all my needs just perfectly.

If you don't need the extra room, the new 991 should fit your needs quite nicely but it is still not a car made for comfort but for pure pleasure. If you still have a 997 Cab, a 991 may not make much sense but if you want to save money, you could go for a 991 Cab instead and replace two cars with one (the 991 Cab). The new 991 is certainly more comfortable but not even close to the Panamera regarding driving comfort and noise.

    Re: Panamera update spied

Thanks RC; to be honest I feel the same way. It makes more sense to swap my 997 Cab for a 991 Cab at some point.

Could tell me a little more on the Panamera facelift? is it worth the wait and when can it be expected?

    Thanks again.

The Panamera facelift is due next year ("mid 2012" according to latest rumors but it could also mean for the new model year starting July or so, which makes more sense). Is it worth the wait ? I don't know. The facelifted frontlights are surely nicer (no, no 911-type lights) but the shape of the whole car stays the same. The completely new Panamera (2015 or latest 2016 ?) will get a visual downsizing, similar to the new Cayenne.

I am not sure - after owning my Panamera for more than a year. I like the ass and I think that the front should be changed. I have changed mine and it looks much better.
