anyone interested in a a yellow CGT with under 5000

miles? You can buy it now for $324,251. It appears to be a good buy but you never know with supercars.

Re: anyone interested in a a yellow CGT with under 5000

$25.00/mile ?? I don't understand constant changing of cars, if you like why not keep it. If you don't like, why buy it in the first place. (generic (you)and applies to fun toy cars not utility use vehicles)

Re: anyone interested in a a yellow CGT with under 5000

The car is being donated to charity. The owner is a 65 years old collector with 40 others in his arsenal.

Good guy. Good car. Good deal.

Re: anyone interested in a a yellow CGT with under 5000

I hadn't seen that, very nice, good deal for someone and money goes to those who need it.

    sold

    it sold for 325,200
that about the going rate for a cgt with that many miles isnt it?

    Re: sold

Well it least for now. There probably will be further decline once the initial rush with the car has passed by those that bought one recently.

i thought the initial rush had passed?
i don't see it dropping much for a couple of years.
once dealers sell out the price should stabilize and maybe even increase a little.
what's wierd is that market on a new f430 spider plus another 25k can get you one of the best super cars ever made in perfect condition.

and acordiny to nberry the 430 has build quality issues ...... Ill take the CGT with the miles yhank you ...

    Re: sold

I'd still take the 430 over the "bargain" CGT.
It's sort of an insult to Porsche that you can obtain their best ever street car they have produced for such a cheap price.

    cgt best

    cheap price?
depreciation doesnt have much to do with performance.
i'd take the depreciated cgt any day over a new f430 spider!
and i love the f430 spider!

    Re: cgt best

The McLaren could also be had for a discount after the "initial rush" and the fact it was launched pre-Internet boom (Murray cut production plans from 300 to just 80 or so production & 20 racing examples. It sold for $1M then and 10 years later the last "new" one sold for almost $2M and well used examples still fetch original list or more. The CGT is not as rare as the F1 but there are more millionaires now vs. then to balance the supply/demand equation. CGT prices will eventually hold and go up.

I wouldn't say $325.000 is a cheap price. The CGT fetches a lot more in Europe, while the Spider can be had at MSRP. It's all about market and you're focusing too much on the US market. In Europe, I'd take the 430 Spider over the CGT, as it costs less than half the price (a well equipped Spider will run you less than 180.000 EUR, in comparison to over 400.000 EUR for a CGT).
Also, I don't think "shame" should come anywhere near the equation. If you can buy one of the greatest Porsche cars for a smidgen more than an ordinary mass-produced F430, I'd say do it.

    Re: sold

As I've said in a previous post.. I truly hope that the price of the CGT drops even lower. I hope this great machine becomes more and more accessible to more and more people so they can appreciate this masterpiece.

And to those people who buy cars thinking of their resale values, I say: GET A LIFE!!!

    Re: sold

Ha, the point is if you wait another year then you can buy two CGT's for the initial MSRP price.

The reason why the price will not stabilize in the near future is there are close to 100 CGT's for sale (according to one poster) and Autotrader has a slew of them.

Many people who bought the CGT now have had their fill and want out for something else. It is interesting that a die hard Porschephile who owns 40 rare Porsche's decided to sell his CGT at a substantial loss. His action speaks volumes.

The words of a true enthusiast!

I would love to own a CGT- it's amazing! Not sure if I'll ever be able to afford one, but I can still appreciate how awesome it is...and dream!

    Re: sold

Nick, as you are well aware, it's fallacious to pretend to understand a person's motivations after observing them perform a single act. Maybe he sold some other cars too. Or maybe he is replacing it with another CGT that has a color scheme he prefers. Or maybe he's getting a divorce and needs to be more liquid. Or maybe he only has 39 garage slots...it could be anything. What if the rest of us on rennteam pretended to understand how you think after reading just one of your posts?

I won't quibble with the fact that prices are 20% below MSRP though. The Enzo never experienced 20% depreciation. And at the rate they are being destroyed/damaged this month, they probably never will.

If Porsche gave me the choice of getting me a new CGT in '05 for $400k or 2 used CGTs in '07 for the same price I would choose the former. So whats your point Nick?
