    Tire Pressure Management System

Is it possible to retrofit the tire pressure management system to a 2006 997? Would it be worth the time and money?

    Re: Tire Pressure Management System

if you are planning to track it, don't buy tpms.

    Re: Tire Pressure Management System

From everything I have heard it is not possible to retrofit this. The central wiring harness would have to be changed and taht is the biggest cost driver.

    Re: Tire Pressure Management System

The wiring harness might already be there since TPMS was supposed to come out earlier than it did. If the car was built after TPMS became available, there's a high probability the wiring harness is the same and therefore TPMS could in theory be a retrofit at reasonable cost (unless Porsche refuses to allow it). Wait..., did I say 'reasonable?' LOL, the only thing you might have going for you is the wiring harness is already in place. The cost for a dealer retrofit is likely to be obscene if not pornographic.

There are supposedly aftermarket TPMS systems, somebody mentioned them here earlier.

I'm planning to track and did order it...
What's the deal? should be good to monitor the pressure, no?
Or does it get confused and starts to go crazy on the track?

    Re: Tire Pressure Management System

Yeah...why no TPMS on the track?

    Yes.

It is hard to always keep the same pressure on track, so that's mean this thing gonna keep warning you etc.

    Re: Tire Pressure Management System

Perhaps several of you are unaware of this little thing about the 997. The longest schedule driver in the production of the current 997 is the wiring harness. Each is custom built to the order/option list. Thus, they no longer 'toss in' wiring when it was not part of the original order.

It is very unfortunate that you don't have it. I consider it essential information when driving a car with such low profile tires.

is there a way to shut it up??

    I think NO.

But you can put a sticker to cover the light, so you won't see the warning.
