Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

Where I live, I am already paying 15% tax on cars, except they tag on the tax after the list price.

Taxes in the US pays for their war machine, taxes in Europe pays for welfare and taxes here in Canada pays for dickheads who gets drunk on MY MONEY, from their welfare checks. At times I really hate socialist governments, I hate it when others take advantage of my wealth without even try to earn it.

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

here in egypt we have to pay 270% import duty on cars.....they even include the shipping cost on top of the invoice......

a locally assembled mercedes S550 retails at 1,4 million pounds which is 200k euro. locally assembled cars have to contain at least 40% locally produced materials.

so in this case you basically will always prefer the locally assembled cars - will you?

Who else is assembling except Mercedes?

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

19%? Austria has 20% VAT +16% NOVA for cars with high fuel consumption...

not really......then i would not have the collection of cars that i do.

    locally assembled are:

    - bmw 3 series, 5 series and 7 series as well as x3

    - mercedes c-class, e-class, s-class and soon the glk

    - various opel models

    - jeep cherokee

there are other models as well but i am not really following up.

    import duty below 1.6 l is 60% 1.6-2.0 is 100% and 270% on anything above 2.0l

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

In this case you should consider a Tesla Roadster as of the electrical engine the import Tax should be low! ;)

And - I agree, those models are not enough to get happy. As yourself, X6, 997, both need to be important! So agree, if you want this cars you have to go the way as there is no other supplement.

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

my brother and i have actually thought about the tesla....but then i could only charge it at home.

besides, you really want to get what you fancy.....so we just have to put up with this.

to any place there are advantages and disadvantages.......there's worse than having to pay taxes......o maybe not ? Smiley

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

I had a chat with the top man at my dealer again and he confirmed that the Panamera will be around 10% above equivalent Cayenne model prices for the UK market. He also told me that the Gen 2 997 GT3 is going to be under £82,000 in the UK including tax which is significantly lower than the German price you have quoted RC. It therefore appears as though the UK is getting a good deal on this model and his Panamera pricing indication looks more accurate for our market. I'm seriously considering a GT3 as I can get an early production slot and this model appears to hold it's value fairly well due to the limited production numbers.

To be honest - I'm thinking about it, too.

As many times said before, I almost dont drive that 911 (last year 2200km!, year before 3500!). Reason, the 911 has not the space and comfort I need during the week. On weekends I often go for golfing, so again - no space. More or less, I really have to fight to finde a slot in my calendar driving the 911. Out of this reason I was thinking about an Panamera for long. Anyway - now as I know the look of the back I'm not sure anymore. Further on, the sunroof is like the size of a mobile-display. A targa style panorama sun-roof would have been great.

So, this is kind a proof, that sportscars enthusiasts with an 911 thinking about a change! ;)

            The same with me.

I think I will sell my 997 turbo and get somehting different. Maybe X6M maybe Panamera or maybe a M-version of the new BMW GT.

Like Whoopsy pointed out on price, and I see with my own eyes, the merc CLS looks like the best choice for you guys with an X6M in a close second. Are you considering a CLS? The bmw 5 gt is still an unknown commodity.

@HUGO - I agree with your horses for courses, but the X6 is really the first  that successfully blends SUV and sedan.

    good discussion.

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

Funny things happened when the same dealer sells Porsche AND Aston Martin, the AM salesman is tempting me with the Rapide instead of the Panamera last time I paid a visit.

No pricing, no dates, not much info other than what we can find on the web.

Rapide is lightyears prettier than the Panamera but it will be way more expensive. The AMG CLS just makes more and more sense after factoring everything :(   And I want something new and different after owning the CLS.

I am still holding my breath on the Panamera Turbo though.

undoubtedly the panamera will be the better car. rapide will be more exclusive at double the price.

Is the price for my Panamera Turbo.

Just had got little time to calculate it. The Panamera price list is end less.

The Turbo has ca. 19.300 € more options then Panamera s/4s.  So the Turbo is about 13.600 more expensive then 4S with same options.

From other European countries? Skoda are sold cheaper in Czech Republic than in Germany, that's why the import makes sense.

The question is, if I can buy Skoda at about Czech prices in Germany, why can't Temm buy Porsche at about German prices in Norway?

Because the biggest factor in Norway's high car prices is the car sales tax, which would also be applied to "gray market" imports.

I wish, but the goverment has seen to that, or they wouldn't sell a single car here in Norway. So all imported cars are subject to tax, but imported cars are a bit cheaper (maybe 10%) , so there are a ton of dealers that sell them.

If you live in Norway, you can't even drive a foreign registered car in here. If you get caught, the car will be impounded and you will have to pay the appropriate tax to get it back. Which in the case of a 911 would be around 100 000 euro. So never let a Norwegian borrow your carSmiley The only exception is if the owner of the car is with you in the car.

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

No prices for the Panamera available for Oman as yet but for the Cayenne we pay the following (not car tax Smiley)

    C (V6) starting at 19,000 Omani Rial (52k $US)
CS starting at 26,600 Omani Rial (70k $US)
    CGTS starting at 30,100 Omani Rial ( 78k $US)
CTT starting at 41,000 Omani Rial (107k $US)
CTTS starting at 51,000 Omani Rial (133k $US)

However as you know Porsche options are rather costly, I paid for my CTT08 53,000 Omani Rials (equivalent to 138k $US)

Still my car would be in the UK just under 100,000 pounds (144k $US) Ouch....... with the pound very low the price difference was much more appealing last year --> 200k $US) Please don't tell wifie Smiley

'Some say' the Pamanera will be slightly more expensive.............

    good discussion.

Good point RacerX. Anyway - I dont consider a CLS as this would be to much like my 535 Bimmer. Just a sporty four door. The Panamera at least has something "special" (yes - some will say the speciality is the ugliness) - anyway, I more think like Aldo - X6M, Panamera, ....

Actually - your comment with the CLS makes me more and more thinking if a Panamera indeed is only a sporty 4 dour sedan? ... Maybe there is no substitude so called "spacious 911" at all?

Re: Panamera - first hint regarding price tag

STOP - the Panamera you could never ever compare to a MB CLS!

Panamera is regarding comfort on the level of MB S-class, BMW 7-class, Audi A8, ....  It is only much more faster and if you whish sportier!

This car can be used with a chauffeur! In the rear seats you have spacious room. Spacious room for head and legs.

Guys, I will have my first drive in a Panamera in April this year. After that I will give you more informations.

Yep Aldo - that's exactly what I mean. The Panamera is from the concept the ideal car for me. Just the design of the trunk is not what I like, but the idea and concept that what I'm looking for.

Cant wait to read your insights!
