Rough idle inconsistent
Got a question. But first...I just purchased my first Porsche. A 2002 C4S. Had 35k miles on it on it. Bought it from a Porsche dealer - as a pre-owned certified. It is in great shape. AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! I'm 49 years old and never owned a sports car before. Didn't think I cared about speed, handling, etc. Wow, was I mistaken. Got behind the wheel of that thing, and don't want to drive anything else.
My Question (which I realize is probably a stupid question, but..) is... The car of course has somewhat of a rough idle. That's not the problem. The issue is that the roughness of the idle is inconistent. Meaning, it has a cycle to it, where it is of a certain intensity for maybe three or four seconds, and then gets more intense for a couple of seconds, and then back again. Etc. I pointed this out to the dealer, and he said it was normal. But it doesn't logically make sense to me. Any of you know whether this is an indication of a problem, or the need for a tune-up, or ... ?? I also noticed that the exhaust is much more pungent - smells much more of gasoline - than, for example, our other car burning the same gas (that other car being an Acura MDX SUV). Not sure if this is part of the same issue/problem or whether or not indeed this is all normal.
Any thoughts/guidance/etc. will be appreciated. Glad you are all here.
