Best 997 price?

God help me. There is no way I should be considering something this expensive.

Still, just in case, what is the best source for a new 997 for someone thinking discount? Is it insane to hope for a discount on such a new & popular model?

Is Porsche's warranty OK if I purchase a car outside of CA & bring it back here?

Thanks so much for your help. I love the forum.

1. While I sometimes hear mention on this board and others about getting a new 997 less than MSRP, I think that is pretty rare, especially in the first year of production. My bet: you will pay MSRP, nothing more, nothing less.

2. Warranty follows the car, regardless of where you bought it. The warranty comes from the manufacturer, not from the individual dealer. Though you should recognize that some dealership's service departments give you certain perks if you bought your car at that dealership, e.g., loaner cars.

You always need to look at it in a logical way.

Imagine if you broke off engagements with several finaces, how much would you lose on the rings that you never get back

.

Or even better, if you went through couple divorces how much would they cost you.

Looking at it this way you can justify a 360 spider along the side with the 997

, it always worked for me

I'm pretty sure CA have different emissions requirements than other states - better check before you buy elswhere and then try and register it here.....

then don't, if you buy it you may be stretching too far, and one way or the other you will regret your decision

It's kind of a relief

not having to haggle with those guys at the dealership. I always wind up paying MSRP or near MSRP because I don;t want to do all that "sleazy" dickering.

I KNOW the dealer is a cheapscate, theif, robber, stealer, liar, cheat, *******, BUt why should I have to behave that way too>
?

Paying MSRP, and HAVING to pay MSRP is a way to keep your dignity, IMHO.

The dealership here sells 997S starting from $79,800 and 997 from $69,750 I think here are cheaper than any where including Germany. but the options coast the same I think.

Remember what the "S" stands for in MSRP.

It's a lot more dignified than paying way over MSRP just to be the first on your block to drive a new model.
