    Lowering springs advice

H&R seems to be a popular choice.
Can anyone please answer the following?

Does it void the warranty in any way?
How many hours can I expect to be charged for labor?
With 19" factory Sport Design wheels, is there any problem with rubbing?
Can you adjust the camber enough to prevent rapid tire wear?
    Any other good advice?

    Thanks!

    Re: Lowering springs advice

I was told by guy from SharkWerks in CA if you have PASM your only option is the H&R, $350 for the springs and 5.5 hrs labor, total of about a grand. Not sure what the going rates are in Maryland. Good luck

    Re: Lowering springs advice

What would be the 'drop' in ride height over the stock PASM settings?

I had the dealer do the springs

I know you guys might think i am nuts. But i had the Porsche Dealer put in my H&R Springs. I kind of felt that I didn't want anyone else messing with my Suspension. They charged me about $1100 plus what i paid for the springs. I got the springs from Performance Products. IT IS LOW. My Techart Front Spoiler is well below the height of a parking block and I already smacked one. The car does bottom out once in a while if the road dips. I am not sure what exactly is hitting but it is something. However I am glad I did it and it looks great. I know I have posted this picture before but here it is again with the H&R Sport springs installed

I just took another couple of shots so you can see

    The ride height.

It does look good. I have a hard enough time trying to avoid hitting things with my regular S. I have to turn the wheels at the end of my driveway to avoid having the front scrape when I pull out of my driveway. I already hit parking bumpers, so I can imagine it has to be even tougher with an even lower car.

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

    Hi,
Wow, the H&R lowered height looks menacing , the rear looks nice but the front seems to be a tad too low when seen visually in comparison bewteen the fender and the tire. I certainly hope there is enough damper travel available if it bottoms out, any idea if the PASM dampers also uses a bump stopper?

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

beautiful car... love the PCCB contrast against the black of yr car. other than ground clearance issues, what's the ride like (compared to standard PASM)?

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

Ride is a little firmer. I frankly dont notice it unless my wife is with me. Then I realize that it is pretty stiff and she is bouncing around. Its is not too stiff though

I'm not going to touch that one. LOL! Anyhow your car looks great and I would love to lower my S but since I live in the city and already have an issue scrapping entering my driveway its probably not going to happen. The car must handle like its on rails because it handles great stock. Cheers.

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

Just a thought but can the -20mm spring only in the "-20mm sports suspension with LSD option" be fitted into the PASM suspension setup? This may help to provide a slighly stiffer ride with a further -10mm reduction in ride height. Anyone knows?

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

i had them it was great ride handeled well ... took off using Pss9 now ...

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

930man, did you hv '-20mm sports suspension' or just the springs that come with the -20mm?

how do you find the PSS9s? what settings hv you got on them? in terms of 'stiff/soft' are they easy to adjust?

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

i had standard suspension on the car installed h&R springs .. took off the springs and yes added pss9's the ride is fantastic. or should i say was ...very easy to adjust # 9 setting very comfortable ran on #2 f # 3 rear on track the car was on rails very quick around the track/

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

do you need to remove the wheels for stiff/soft adjustments? how much does it lower the car at highest setting?

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

u dont need to remove wheels... 1 3/4 " very low just so you know ... i am selling my pss9's

Re: I just took another couple of shots so you can see

    -1 3/4"??
    that is extremely low.

I also had Barrier Porsche put on my PSS-9's for the same reasons. I got my setup at www.shox.com. The prices were unbeatable...close to $1000 less than other websites, such as Carnewal.

Re: I had the dealer do the springs

i love the shocks ...would have anything else on mine in the future

    Re: Lowering springs advice

Don't lower you car man it will look like crap. You will hear more road noise, yout tire will wear faster and you will break your front spoiler the 1st week. That is the appropriate height for that car, otherwise Porsche could would have done from the factory at no additional cost. Unless you are going on the track.

i agree!!! dont buy new wheels! if porsche wanted to you have new wheels, they would have more options @ the factory. OH! dont buy an aftermarket exhaust or anything that added horsepower. If porsche wanted you to have more power, they would've given it to you. And sadly, dont add those silly clear corner markers, if porsche wanted you to have them, they would've designed the car with clear markers, not yellow.

    Re: Lowering springs advice

maybe in YOUR opinion, the car looks like crap lowered. And maybe the way YOU drive, the front spoiler will get wrecked in the first week. But maybe he likes the look of the lowered suspension & maybe he is a intelligent, cautious driver who is aware of the curbs & inclines that would damage the spoiler.

    Re: Lowering springs advice

Yes it's my opinion and yes I am cautious driver too, however there are time when you are in an area unfamiliar to you and it's dark and you can do some serious damages. Plus I made a comment to him not to you.

    Re: Lowering springs advice

i lowered mine for the track. i dont recall hitting things the plastic air deflector scraped some in some places but it is soft plastic it will flex no problem. i dont recall more road noise.. one thing people forget is a production company now!! the want bigger numbers they will cut back on thing to cut cost ... i think it is to each his own.. the car is very soft on the track this is a fact. but i would always want someone to point out the pros and cons let the buyer beware as they say...or make an informed descision.

    Re: Lowering springs advice

All pros and cons duly noted. Thank you. If camber and toe is adjusted via full alignment, tire life should be okay right?
