Price tag of the new GT3 went up though... angry

The 991.2 GTS went up 5% more than 991.1 GTS.  You think GT3 will go up more than 5% also?

Grant, it will be within the same margin. And therefor 991.2 GT3 will be a bargain.

I have the identical blue one in the video. I don't believe a black roll bar is suited for the Targa. The silver bar provides a nice contrast to the styling. In a perfect world, I would be buying a Targa GT3. Alas, that will never be.laugh

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

Any additional rumors around the Speedster? I'm assuming it will have a NA engine similar to the GT3. If it does come through and if I can get one it would be my dream car.

I'm first ont my dealer's list. (Don't even know if they have anyone else at this point), but I was thinking that if the rumors become more credible, that I would do what I can to imrove my chances of getting one. I was thinking of putting a bigger deposit, talk to the manager of my dealership and tell him that I would be willing to trade in my 991.1 GTS 4 convertible (low mileage, highly optioned) which should be an easy car for them to sell. Any other suggestions?

I dought  the speedster will have the GT3 Engine . It will probably have the GTS engine . On the 997 version it had the Carrera engine and never has a GT3 engine been fitted into a convertible .  The speedster is not part of the GT family, it is a touring

I heard of a US price of over 140k USD (cannot say if 141k or 149k) with PDK. Don't have any base price for manual though.

Interesting - I assumed Manual would be a no-cost option.  You think PDK-S may cost more than Manual (makes sense)?

Does Porsche charge more for manual on their other models? If not, I doubt they will charge more for manual on the GT3.

well it has to come with 1 standart and why should this be PDK ? Manual standart with PDK optional and related better Performance numbers only make sense

same price for manual and PDK

On most models, pdk costs $4k, but GT3 comes with PDK-S which should cost much more ($7k?).  In the case of the new GT3, I expect no such cost for PdK-S relative to manual...

What do you think the marketing rationale would be (how would they explain it in the internet description and during interviews)?  Wouldn't it undercut their efforts to show how superior PDK is (or will they let the performance numbers speak to that)?

And why does Manual cost less on 718 and Carrera?

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

Logic would dictate that they would offer the manual as an option on the 991.2 GT3 as PDK was the standard and only option on the 991.1, but they must have realised that if they make the PDK the optional they will earn more money since most of the GT3's will be ordered with the PDK by far, optional or not. So don't count out the PDK as the optional version just yet!

I don't know, figured that since most people will opt for the PDK, only the diehards will go for manual and diehards don't mind paying extra for something they really wanted....................

Secondary objective would be since the manual cars will be slightly less efficient on fuel economy cycles, someone has to pay for the penalty Smiley

Perhaps it will be a 10k option but Porsche will throw in a bone and offer it with a package of LSD and single mass flywheel Smiley

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

Naturally the PDK will be a cost option. They will sell many more PDK so that is where you charge more since you make more. And as mentioned it is quicker and more complex so again it makes sense to charge more.  It is nice that the manual buyer is rewarded with a lower price and better resale. Nothing wrong with that.

I'd hold my breath (6/2017 ~ 2/2018) for the first guinea pigs to push the car around the track and see if any warning messages will pop up and reduce engine performance or ask you politely to shut off the engine and call a tow truck  angry

Don't be surprised if the PDK prices go up on the other models either over the summer or in the fall after Frankfurt. VW has a lot of income to generate if it's going to pay for dieselgate.  If PDK (or PSE for that matter) were significantly re-engineered or redesigned for the GTS I am confident Porsche would state as much in the sales literature.

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

    RC,

the more inf we get, the more I start to be (and may be wrongly) disappointed :

    - the price is increasing

-the performance should be marginally imporved with 495 PS... still less than 500 PS like R and RS

    - whoopsy was claiming and I was excited that the motor is 2.5 version , meaning a direct link with racing, and a different motor from RS (2.0) and GT3 phase 1 (Unreliable 1.0).

With now turbo charged engine on carerra GTS, and 450 PS, i'm pretty sure the car will be marginally faster on track, and may be I m wrong, but SLOWER on normal autobahn and raods, because of lack of torque.

The main interest was to get a new motor with increased torque, coming 1000 rpm before former RS motor.

What is now the real advantage ? Last NA motor on GT line ? May be ....

I m also pretty demanding for a mark II version. May be I'm too much demanding and PORSCHE is just playing traditional game .....

    Any comments appreciated SmileySmiley

Thanks to all of you for valuable inputs provided there anyhow !!!

Always a pleasure to read the last comments on those threads !!!!
