    GT-Rs Dual clutch gearbox have only 6 gears and is technically inferior then Getrag Flagship for Audi/Lamborghini and Porsche.

    Guys, given the position of the engine in a 911 you can't use a front-engine gearbox. It will result in 6 reverse gears and 1 forward - lol

    Where is the gearbox placed in the R8? Maybe that one could be used for 911 too... anyway if that's the case why Gertrag didn't printed "and rear engined cars"?

    I believe Gertrag is still working on it.

    I also think that 600nm won't leave a lot room for tunners

    Sorry Nick I beleive the PDK will replace tiptronic at least in Porsche cars. Long live the manual transmission. I don't care if it is technically inferior, my 944 turbo MANUAL puts a huge smile on my face every time I drive it.

    Yep.

    And tuner-philes will stick with manual trannies with aftermarket-available clutch upgrades until PDK torque capacity becomes prodigious. Our wives can have the PDK for now.

    PDK is bogus.

    Greater frequency and higher cost to repair, less driver involvement, less control, less fun, more weight, more cost and more of what sports cars dont need.

    And did anyone say snow? Ice on the driveway? Groovy. PDK does offer one advantage: greater factory profit.

    Still want one? Better check the actual mfg warranty before you buy. It might not be covered the same way as the rest of the car.

    Resale? It might not matter to low mileage F car weekend spazolas but if the car gets any real mileage on it resale will be hurt.

    But PDK will be the must have option for greying posers or Sony addicts in leasemobiles.

    Tiptronic not being enough to satisfy the hair dye/weave liposuction crowd, at least the PDK will allow them to say "Watch me press buttons honey, I can still drive a car."

    Just imagine their thrill as they thread their way through the twisties in those Starbucks parking lots out in the leafy suburbs. Oh the joy of it all!

    Had SMG on my M3, great tranny, made me a better driver than I am and was definitely the faster option for most people including myself. Could not wait to get back to manual though. Manual is fun, makes you more connected to the driving experience. Who cares if the digital video game tranny is faster, most of us bought manual 997TTs knowing the Tip was faster. But that's not the point, fun and involvement is more important. And isn't fun what these cars are all about?
