Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

Having a little trouble with this without scraping, should we bother modifiying driveway, not to mention other driveways being a problem, any tricks or suggestions?

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

go into it at an angle...

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

or back-out again if you dont scrape on the way in...

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

I feel your pain. lol I enter and exit at an extreme angle. I wonder if that will torque the body over time...

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

I had this problem with just a C2S, my solution was to have the drive reprofiled - removed 35 tons in the process! To ensure the new profile was satisfactory before I bought the car I made a wooden Porsche - check it out at:

That's about the least stressful thing you can do to a GT3 if you drive it right (hard)...

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

i feel ur pain man...i have the ruf kit on my car and have the same problem especially with sleeping policemen on the road, ...when the u hear it scratch its like someone is grating ur bones. the best idea is to go at an angle as said before...but it also depends on the shape of the driveway or bump.

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

Ruf can sell you their suspension that will pull the car up 50mm and can be automatic, as a function of road speed.

let's see some pics of the actual drive way from diferent angle. i say a great chance u can get it out fine & u just don't know it. i can give u some opinion if i see the drive way.

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

Cheaper to pour a new approach!

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

The worst (almost) scraping incident was two weeks ago in Vermont, where I innocently pulled down a steep driveway at a house on the mountain only to find that I couldn't make the angle out to the flat parking area at the bottom. I had to stop on the steep, set the parking brake, and then burn my clutch backing up the driveway backwards later when we left.

I love these cars, and this is probably the most annoying 'feature' they have.

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

Throw a couple dirty 2"x6"x8' dimensional lumber in the bushes and pull them out placing them at the driveway edge when you want to ingress or egress. Better yet phone home and have somebody put them in place just before you arrive. Worked for me.

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

Or just build a simple nice ramp and keep it there...

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

    ain't so bad.

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

Can't see the pics, don't have an id there, could you post em? Want to see your wooden Porsche.

Get one of these...even though it's for a 996, it should fit the 997. Then you won't worry about scraping.

It says "Not for Aerokit Option". GT3 body is the Aerokit...

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

I have a 997S with X51 and the Aerokit of which the front bumper is almost identical to the 997 GT3's front bumper, albeit painted in the body's color. I drive my car at an angle not only in my driveway but everywhere there is a chance of scraping. I've driven almost 6000 miles and I only scraped it once, much to my dismay. What can one do? Nevertheless, I wouldn't have my car any other way. In the future, if I must buy a replacement front spoiler, so be it. I understand you, though.

All I can say is WOW!

Re: Getting GT3s into driveways, lets talk about it....

I built two 24"X24" 2" thick wooden platforms put them at the toe of the slope and once I lined the car up I marked the ground so when I place the platforms I always put them in the same spot. Since the P-Car is my weekend car I put the platforms down and pull the car out and when pull it back in I remove and store the platforms. It works beautifully I pull the nose of the car against the platform and when the car goes over the platform it is high enough not to scrape any more.

No car can't make it up or down this ramp, it has to be an SUV.
