    Question For you guys about Ferrari Millechili

    Hey guys I was reading over on another site that the new Ferrari supercar that will be come from concepts like the Ferrari Millechili will be a super charged V8.

    I know Ferrari is trying to cut emissions & the weight of their cars. But please don't say the new supercars will be V8s like the F40 with less weight & they will discontinue V12s like the Enzo & F50. Any truth to this?

    About 6-8 months ago in a an interview with one of the British magazines, the head of product development for Ferrari indicated that the company was considering aspirated cars because of emissions/environmental issues.

    Back then he indicated the company was going green without and by doing so would not lose performance. They are definitely headed for lighter weight materials cleaner burning and fuel efficient engines.

    However, I doubt very much they will jettison the V-12. They really do not produce enough cars to be an issue.

    I for one hope they go back to the low weight style of the F40.

    I have read many times that they will be going back to turbocharging.
    I for one think that is great, the GTO and F40 were awesome cars.

    Doubt anyone (incl F mgmt) really knows....but common-sense analysis says, in era of increasing wealth concentration and cheap fuel (the guy w/o health insurance and w/a subprime mtg in US casually commutes 50mi round-trip daily in a 6000lb, 10MPG SUV ) not very likely to move away from high hp/tq...advances will likely be in smart chassis tech, better active/passive safety and lighter materials....

    Suspect engineers will argue NA, high-tech, lighter motors w/advanced, fast/smooth paddleshifter trannies are state-of-art today...and deliver elegant performance that a forced-induc motor can't (forced induc seems kinda old-tech, no?)....

    The environmental nonsense is silly....fuel is awfully cheap in US....and many repeat 599 (and future Scud and Enzo 2.0, etc ) buyers in SF/Greenwich burn a few more gallons of fuel (than in any 600hp+ car) when they board their large, latest-tech private bird...perhaps G550/Falc7X/GlobExp...to head for one of their wkend houses....

    turbocharging and direct injection is in the Ferraris future,
