Forget PDK...paddle shifting on a 6speed sequential system

Re: Forget PDK...paddle shifting on a 6speed sequential system

I like the concept as the absence of any auto mode keeps this a driver-oriented shifting system... but at 5:42 the speed of the shifts themselves seems very slow - comparable to earliest DSG or even Ferrari's 355 first F1 shift speeds IMO.

Re: Forget PDK...paddle shifting on a 6speed sequential system

I'm not as impressed with the speed as I am with the sequential shifter - no 5-4/5-2 or 2-3/2-5 misshifts...and the ability to stack shifts without going in sequence.

Re: Forget PDK...paddle shifting on a 6speed sequential system

looks horribly aftersales...funny also the distances on the lever....

Re: Forget PDK...paddle shifting on a 6speed sequential system

I read somewhere two years ago an interview with one of the Porsche executives who divulged that Porsche was indeed working on a sequential shifter but that the PDK would remain in effect until 2018 after which sequential shiter would take its place.

The auto industry has pretty long lead times, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make fairly reliable predictions for the next 3 to 4 years.

But only a charlatan would claim to reliably know what will happen in 11 years. Smiley

Just realized that I missed a golden opportunity to comment that, whoever he was, the person concerned will by 2018 also have been replaced by some other sequential shiter.  Smiley

I would have been inclined to spell it with two "t"s though. Smiley
