This is the difference with other car manufacturers.

Ford suggests I do not use the launch control of my GT500 too often because something may break. Smiley Actually, I only used it once and if I would use it now with 1079 Nm torque, I would probably do some serious damage.

Same goes to my Mini JCW: Do not use too many times one after another because the gearbox has to cool down.

I also know that many other car manufacturers have similar restrictions.

I have yet to use Launch Control in the GTS.

I think (imho) this is the most useless function a Porsche has. I have it on one of mine and I have never used it. I attended few Porsche World Road Show events and there always happened to be the 997 Turbos (PDK)  first and then the 991 Turbos showcasing this feature . Poor cars they for sure did more than 50 launches every day . All this mechanical stress to gain few tenths in the acceleration. I don`t really get it but maybe I am too old. Anyhow amazing engineering.

Re: Interesting use of Launch Control..!

If one try that with a Ferrari or a McLaren, those cars won't even last the 1st hour.

That's how bullet proof Porsches build their drivetrain.

I can totally see their point. One will never get rid of street racing, the stop light drags are everywhere. Porsche has the simplest system to engage, fool proof. That few 10ths it gain from rest will be the difference for the race to the next light.

You'd be surprised but I never use launch control as well. Why bother to play around with the setting for such a little gain in performance? Usually, I do not do red light races anyway because they are ridiculous. Unless my wife is next to me Smiley or a friend. Like you said...anyhow, amazing engineering but I wish the cars would jump forward even without launch control. My 991 GTS had a serious lag from standstill, I did a fuzzy logic reset (PDK) and it is much better now but I know that Porsche has a better PDK software somewhere in a "drawer", I don't care about comfort but I tried hard to request it and wasn't successful (through the dealer). Maybe I should escalate this to a higher level but I don't want to sound ridiculous for such a minor issue.

A clutch never has software issues. But then again it messes up all the awesome technology.

    Could not help myself.

LC is the only reason I would be curious to try a PDK. There still is no reason to own it.

Completely agree. I also don`t do traffic light races . Launch control is interesting to experience but is a sort of one trick pony, unless you do traffic light races of quarter mile acceleration tests after few trials it does not do anything for me .  Otherwise PDKs are improving continuously and that lag from standstill is less noticeable than it was on the first PDK iterations (such as on the 997s for example) but it is still there.  But I think we are a minority here , most of the drivers don`t really make an issue out of it.

Re: Interesting use of Launch Control..!

I never used LC in my car and never will. I do not see the point. 911s are not about drag racing, AFAIC.

My Porsche is an old school 964, but I have never used the LC in my A45 AMG. I haven´t felt the need to even try it in a deserted road, maybe it is because of my age....
